Basildon man is gone and my heart is broken. Thank you, David Amess, for being my friend, for always smiling, the great advice and endless notes of encouragement. And for our last conversation in the lobby before recess. And of course your wonderful book. I will never forget you.

We are sending a terrible message to young people about how to deal with things that are offensive (although, I think you have to be looking quite hard to get upset by the Pogues). The answer is now simply delete/ remove/ cancel the offending item. But this is not how life works.
