🛑An opera singer waved a Palestinian flag on stage during the curtain call of Tosca at Calgary Opera in Canada. The opera company responded by removing Gabriel Sánchez-Ortega from the remaining performances, citing a violation of its policies. The production also features Israeli baritone Boaz Daniel. An opera stage is not a platform for hijacking a performance with personal political activism. Calgary Opera made the right decision. Source: Noam Cohen , N12

The UN accused Israel of genocide, and one of the 3 commissioners behind that accusation just admitted, in front of a live audience, that they never independently verified one of the most explosive statistics in their own report. Chris Sidoti insisted that his commission conducts independent investigations and doesn't simply rely on media reports. Except paragraph 21 of their official genocide report claims that 83% of those killed in Gaza were civilians. The footnote cites The Guardian. When asked whether the commission had actually verified that figure, Sidoti admitted: “No, we didn't… we literally do not know.” Now watch how this works. The Guardian publishes a statistic. The UN cites The Guardian. TIME and other media orgs then repeat the statistic while reporting on the UN's genocide findings, giving readers the impression that they're looking at an independently established fact. The media quotes the UN, the UN quotes the media, and somewhere along the way a newspaper's claim gets transformed into an authoritative finding of international investigators. This is how information gets laundered. Each new citation adds another layer of credibility without necessarily adding a single piece of independent evidence. But the commissioner himself admits they never verified the number. We're talking about an official UN report accusing the Jewish state of the gravest crime in international law, circulated around the world as authoritative evidence, while one of its own authors acknowledges that they literally do not know whether a central statistic they published is accurate. How many other claims in that report have been through the same process?

Replying to @NobelPrize
We are shocked that the Nobel committee honored Navi Pillay. Her troubling record on antisemitism and gross breach of ethics in presiding over a notorious UN commission utterly disqualifies her from such an award. The Nobel Peace Prize should uphold universal human rights and reject antisemitism unequivocally. Honoring Pillay without confronting this record undermines those principles and risks rewarding prejudice rather than advancing peace. In July 2021, Ms. Pillay accepted to chair a Pakistani-sponsored UN Commission of Inquiry into alleged Israeli crimes. The rules of due process require that fact-finders in the human rights field be impartial. Yet prior to accepting this post, Pillay had publicly pronounced herself, in extreme terms, on the very issues that her inquiry is mandated to investigate. In June 2020, she signed a manifesto calling on governments to “Sanction Apartheid Israel.” In June 2021, a month before heading the inquiry, Pillay wrote a letter to President Biden calling to punish Israel for the May 2021 war with Hamas. She has made many more prior prejudicial pronouncements. (See: unwatch.org/wp-content/uploa…) This not all. In July 2022, Pillay’s fellow commissioner Miloon Kothari railed against “the Jewish Lobby” and questioned Israel’s right to be a member state of the UN. Mr. Kothari was condemned by the world’s leading democracies, and by top UN officials including Secretary-General Antonio Guterres. Astonishingly, however, Navi Pillay defended him. For those reasons, the Mayor of Berlin in 2022 withdrew her support for a town hall event set to honor Navi Pillay, and the award was canceled. By honoring Pillay, the Nobel committee has failed to uphold the principles it seeks to celebrate. International justice depends on impartiality. When an investigator campaigns to punish a country before examining the evidence, she compromises the credibility of both her findings and the institution she represents. Pillay’s defense of a colleague who invoked “the Jewish lobby” is especially disturbing. A human rights leader should recognize and unequivocally reject antisemitic stereotypes. Her response instead helped shield her colleague from accountability. The Nobel committee should have confronted that record before presenting her as a model of integrity. The victims of discrimination deserve institutions that apply the same standards to everyone. Today’s decision sends the wrong message: that achievements elsewhere excuse prejudice against Jews and the abandonment of basic standards of fairness when investigating Israel. That weakens the cause of universal human rights.

Douglas Murray: “What happened in the skies above Saudi Arabia on Wednesday morning stands as a metaphor for three years of war. The Israelis saw an existential threat, took matters into their own hands, and decided their own course. The rest of the West will have to decide whether it will follow the Israeli model or let its own future be dictated by terror and the hijacking of its entire society.”

🚨🎙️ Zlatan Ibrahimović on Tijjani Reijnders’ recent interview about his move to Saudi Arabia: 🗣️"People in football love to wear a mask and play the holy saint. They sign a contract for tens of millions and pretend it was only for the 'project' or the 'tradition.' It is bullshit. Tijjani sat in front of the world and spoke the raw, unedited truth. He said, 'I want to secure my family and my grandchildren so nobody has to work again.' Do you know what that is? That is not greed. That is a real man taking care of his bloodline. Look at where he came from. At nineteen years old, he was stacking shelves at an Aldi supermarket after training just to get by. He knows what real life costs. He knows what it means to have nothing. So when life puts a deal on the table that guarantees your family will never suffer for generations, you do not play the moralist on television—you sign the paper and you protect your own. Everyone hypocritically judges him from their couch, but if you put that same contract in front of them, they would sign it before the ink is even wet. He was honest about the money, honest about his ambition, and honest about his family. I respect a man who tells the truth much more than a coward who hides behind fake principles."
