Startalk in Lisbon was incredible. The saddest part is that despite of the power and importance of the message, the people that need to hear it the most will never listen.
We must do our part and repeat it loud and clear: science is the only way forward.

A mystery of the 21st century remains how a nation known for precise ingenuity fought to turn off the 24/7 carbon free nuclear electricity they were already making. It’s not even listed on the chart anymore.
A large dunkelflaute hits Europe! As dark settled in at 5pm yesterday, both wind and solar generation flatlined across the region. Energy prices in Denmark and Germany surged to €936/MWh as utilities scrambled to meet peak demand with limited renewable output. A stark reminder of the need for load shifting, diverse energy sources and robust storage solutions for the winter months.
Data here: app.electricitymaps.com/zone…
A dunkelflaute is a weather event when there is simultaneously very little wind and solar power generation, typically occurring during dark winter periods. The term comes from the German words for "dark" (dunkel) and "lull" (flaute).

In the cEDH European Championship, we noticed that first player advantage climbed quite a bit compared to pre-ban era. @datatog, care to double check w/ data for the boil 2? Seems this is interesting input for the Commander team to evaluate unbans (dockside ?) cc @luastardust
@WotC_Matt sorry to bother with a rules question but i've seen this being disputed and wanted to settle it: how does aminatou veil piercer work with enchantments with x in the mana cost? if you play it for miracle, with x = 4, does the reduction apply to the x? 702.1b applies?
also it kind of fits this ruling

@Dunkatog
If you foretell Stonecoil Serpent with Dream Devourer, you can cast it with an X of 2 for zero mana or an X of 4 for 2 mana.

Today i was looking at cool precons that could be nice to play in my LGS upcoming precon league and found that Zedruu's precon has trade secrets in it and it's banned.
The reason posted in the banlist page:
"it’s a cheap spell that allows two players to collude"

There’s an upcoming cEDH $5k tournament in SCGCON 2023 in Baltimore. I’m very curious about what ruleset they are going to use (everything from round time, pairings, comp REL stuff, etc), since @StarCityGames is a big player, so hopefully it will set a standard!
Shower thought: seeing everyone in the global cEDH community embrace the 5-0-1 point system (I created) so ubiquitously makes me kinda proud 🥺
Maternity/Paternity leave:
Many companies dislike these, but my experience is that when a great worker goes on leave, others need to step up. When that more experienced person comes back, the company has 2 great workers instead of 1. Getting out of comfort zone is good for growth
Re-watched Topgun yesterday. Today I saw Maverick and I’m very happy with my decisions. Topgun is a timeless classic. Maverick is an incredible sequel.
