A distinguished paper award for our OOPSLA'22 paper on incorrectness logic analysis came as pleasant news. Congrats in particular to lead author @QLocLe for his perseverence after rejection by a previous conference. @fbinfer @HerrDreyer @AzaleaRaad

One of my students, Aaron Beigelbeck, built a tool that enables more interactive static performance analysis in #VSCode using @fbinfer's cost analysis

An interesting tool that Aaron has built (work led by @citostyle) plugs the awesome Facebook's Infer tool (which infers the complexity of your methods) within VS Code. Developers can now see if they coded a O(n2) with a single click of a mouse!

👩🏽💻 What does principled user research look like for programming tools?
🤔 How did doing this change my view of what problems matter to solve?
📊 Is this something we should incorporate into PL research evaluations?
Thanks @michael_w_hicks for nudging me to write about this!
Programming languages and development tools aim to make people who use them more productive. How do we know when they succeed? @jeanqasaur has pondered this question as a professor and as a startup CEO. On PL Perspectives, she explains what she's learned. blog.sigplan.org/2020/10/27/…

@johnregehr, @jvanegue and others have understandably wondered about Incorrectness Logic: what's the win for software developers? You might be interested to know, there's already been one pretty good win (of sorts) that doesn't require speculation. Read on if interested!

How did I miss this one. We need more distillers and less creators of tiny increments. Rejections because the work is not novel are the bane of progress.
