Google Labs quietly published a spec for DESIGN.md - an open format for describing a brand to AI coding agents. Your brand PDF doesn't help Claude Design. Your tokens.json doesn't either. A Structured Markdown file does. Wrote up what it is and why it matters here: tasteprofile.io/blog/designm…

Polish is cheap now. Every AI tool hands it out. Consistency isn't. Same patterns, same tone, same behavior on every screen. Users can't tell you why a product feels risky. They just hesitate. For an unknown product, predictable beats impressive.

Founders chase novelty to stand out. A unique feature. A clever pattern. Something new. Novelty gets copied. Clarity doesn't. Most products aren't forgettable because they look the same. They're forgettable because they're vague. Users don't leave thinking it was bad. They leave thinking they can't remember why it mattered. Differentiation isn't invention. It's being understood quickly, including what you refuse to build.

You can't fix product drift with a new homepage. If the product does five things five different ways, sharper copy just describes the confusion more clearly. Messaging gets easy when it's describing something true.

Wrapped up my last GeneratePress template site. Going out with something a little different that was really fun to build. Looking to partner up with more agencies that use GP as well as take on more client work. If you need a new website or branding, I know a guy.

Founders rarely get stuck building. They get stuck deciding. Optionality feels responsible. It's expensive. Nothing is obvious and every screen becomes a negotiation. Clear identity changes the question. Not "is this good?" "Is this us?" Speed isn't moving faster. It's deciding less. How: - Open - Measure - Commit

Stop treating branding like dessert. Even if you've never had a branding conversation, your product still has a brand. It's in the defaults. Errors. Empty states. What feels deliberate versus improvised. Ignore it and it doesn't vanish. It becomes accidental. And accidental isn't neutral.

Everyone on the team can now design, build, and ship a workable prototype in an afternoon. From a distance that looks like depth. It isn't. Surface fluency scaled. The judgment that catches a bad call before it ships still takes years in one discipline. You usually can't tell the difference until something fails.

I've watched teams ship on time with solid design and clean code and still fail. The question that would have caught it came six weeks too late. Faster tools don't ask it. They just make the wrong thing cheaper.

In a sea of design gimmicks, I've watched brands chase trends and flashy features. But the ones people remember? They cut through with clarity. No-nonsense, unmistakable, built to stick. That's always been my north star.

I built Clearly Design for founders who are done with the usual fluff and filler. Early on, I saw how most design agencies bury your vision under layers of process and pretty words. Good branding shouldn't dilute your story-it should sharpen it. So I stripped out everything but what moves the needle: clear, results-driven work that actually highlights what makes you different. If that sounds like what you've been missing, let's talk.

Competition isn't a red flag. It's proof the market exists. Founders panic when they find alternatives. They pivot. They chase something "unique." But winners? They commit. They don't need to be first or most original. They just make their version the one people remember. Stop running from validation.
