Ilan Pappe has a new piece out titled, "Why Al-Aqsa Flood Happened."
In it, he argues that Yahya Sinwar confronted Israel similar to how Anwar Sadat confronted Israel in 1971 & Palestinian leaders such as Yasser Arafat in 2000.
Sadat warned that if Israel did not return the Sinai to Egypt through diplomacy, Egypt would go to war...
Arafat warned Ehud Barak & Bill Clinton that if he was unable to return from the Camp David summit in 2000 with a promise to reduce the oppression of the Palestinian people, another uprising would be inevitable...
In Sinwar’s case, we now know that he negotiated with Israel the basic demands of the people of Gaza: an end to the siege, an increase in the food and raw materials entering the besieged enclave, and the release of Palestinian political prisoners.
(This was revealed in a Sep. 2026 @haaretzcom investigation which showed that, in September 2023, Sinwar arranged a private meeting with Fatah official Coal Eyes. "Tell the Israelis that if they don't make progress, I'm preparing a huge surprise for them," he declared emphatically. Here, he dropped a key word for the first time, one that should have triggered red flags: "Tell them to expect a 'zilzal,' an earthquake." haaretz.com/israel-news/isra…)
Pappe argues that, like Sadat, Sinwar eventually chose the military option when it became clear that Israel had rejected the political option.

Why Hamas Attacked Israel in October 2023 – Israeli professor Ilan Pappé.
Hamas had negotiated with Israel for an end to the 17-year siege strangling Gaza, an increase in food entering Gaza, & release of Palestinian political prisoners. The Israeli army advised Netanyahu to respond to these demands with an all-out attack on Gaza. Al-Aqsa Flood was an attempt to preempt this attack.
This was a breakout from the ghetto by a people who had suffered thousands of deaths, tens of thousands of injuries among children and women, and hundreds of thousands of people losing their homes in the 2014 Israeli assault and remaining displaced in 2023; they were a traumatized population subjected to starvation as a matter of policy during the seventeen-year Israeli blockade and to frequent bombardment from the air, land, and sea.

Soviet sniper Lyudmila Pavlichenko, credited with 309 confirmed kills, appears on Soviet television in 1970.
In this footage, Pavlichenko addresses the audience and introduces fellow women veterans of the Red Army, recounting their wartime records as snipers, partisans and aircrew.
The footage comes from the 1970 " Goluboy Ogonyok: Song of Victory " television special, filmed for the 25th anniversary of the Soviet victory over Nazi Germany.

This is what Gaza looks like after the bombing blood covering the ground, a scene that captures the horror endured by the people of the Strip.

This is how history gets incrementally rewritten because nobody pushes back on narratives like this.
In reality, no generation in Nigeria ever actually "listened" to Fela. At NO point was he ever embraced by Nigeria's western-educated classes. He was always an outsider and a rebel that they treated with suspicion or outright hostility. Even the wealthy or educated who liked him had to literally hide to do so. His music was (and to the best of my knowledge still is!) banned from radio nationwide, and it eventually got to the point where he made less money in Nigeria - his primary audience - than outside it.
I grew up on a street where a few houses away was Air Vice Marshall Funsho Martins, across the street was Governor Ita Ikpeme, around the corner was Fidelity Bank MD Reginald Ihejiahi, and so on. These were the people I would often overhear having conversations with my dad, and to them, Fela was an "amugbo boy" (weed smoking loser) and community penis who used the guise of African pride to cover for his lack of personal discipline. They had no respect for what he stood for, and I personally was not allowed to listen to Fela's music while I lived under my parents' roof.
Fela was never loved by the people who were politically aware or active in Nigeria. The only people who wholeheartedly embraced Fela were the poorest and most powerless. And even at that, they lacked the education to fully understand his message beyond simple complaint and criticism of the Nigerian government. All his words about colonialism and imperialism flew completely over their heads. It was like explaining the International Space Station to someone who has never seen an internal combustion engine before.
I hate the narrative that Nigeria ever truly embraced Fela or his message because that is a laundering device for Nigerians to avoid asking themselves what on earth was so important about that message that a military government invaded his house, raped his wives and killed his mom, while the global "human rights" yappers provided cover for that government and never sanctioned them for it.
Saying that there was a generation that "listened to Fela" is an easy and disingenuous way of dismissing Fela's work and refusing to examine what made it so important that we're still talking about him nearly 3 decades after he died.

“The political theory of the Cold War was first publicly proclaimed to the world in the famous Fulton speech of Sir Winston Churchill delivered in March 1946, under the chairmanship of President Truman. It received its first official embodiment in a major statement of American policy with the proclamation of the Truman Doctrine in March 1947.
This date of the Fulton speech and the subsequent Truman Doctrine is worthy of note. For it demonstrates that the Anglo-American proclamation of the Cold War preceded and did not follow the rejection of the Marshall Plan by the Soviet Union and the People’s Democracies of Eastern Europe in the summer of 1947. It preceded the formation of the Communist Information Bureau in September 1947 (which was a defensive answer to American interventionist strategy in Europe). It preceded the democratic victory over the attempted right-wing coup in Czechoslovakia in February 1948. Thus it preceded all the events which have been subsequently quoted by apologists, with their customary falsification of history, as the causes and justification of the policy.
The initial Anglo-American character of the proclamation of the Cold War at Fulton in 1946 is also worthy of note. For it is characteristic that, while the speech was uttered from the mouth of a British elder statesmen out of office, the proclamation was in fact made on American soil, and under the presiding sponsorship of the President of the United States. Thus from the outset the formal Anglo-American partnership in sponsoring the Cold War has not concealed the reality of the predominant role of American imperialism in practice.
Walter Lippmann, the leading American publicist, issued in 1947 a booklet entitled The Cold War: A Study in United States Foreign Policy. [7] He criticised the policy in the following terms:
The policy can be implemented only by recruiting, subsidising and supporting a heterogeneous array of satellites, clients, dependents and puppets. The instrument of the policy of containment is therefore a coalition of disorganised, disunited, feeble or disorderly nations, tribes and factions around the perimeter of the Soviet Union…
It would require, however much the real name for it were disavowed, continual and complicated intervention by the United States in the affairs of all the members of the coalition which we were proposing to organise, to protect, to lead and to use.
Subsequent events have abundantly proved the correctness of this prediction.
…
Consider for example that most familiar formula of the Cold War, ‘the Iron Curtain’, which is currently used a million times a day in every Western speech and press article to denote the frontiers of the socialist countries and peoples who won freedom from fascism at the end of the Second World War. This formula is universally stated to have been coined by the genius of Sir Winston Churchill in his Fulton speech in March 1946. But in fact it was first used in this sense, that is, to describe the situation of the countries of Eastern Europe liberated from Nazism through the advance of the Soviet armies, by Josef Goebbels in an editorial published in Das Reich on 25 February 1945:
If the German people lay down their arms, the whole of Eastern and South-Eastern Europe, together with the Reich, would come under Russian occupation. Behind the iron curtain, mass butcheries of people would begin, and all that would remain would be a crude automation, a daily fermenting mass of thousands of proletarians and despairing slave animals knowing nothing of the outside world.
In a series of controversies in The Times, The Times Literary Supplement and other journals I have established this origin of the use of this phrase in this context (now recognised in the new edition of the Oxford Dictionary of Quotations). The formula was borrowed by Sir Winston Churchill – no doubt unconsciously, but after having read it prominently displayed
Joseph Stalin’s Response to Winston Churchill’s Fulton Speech:
“Mr. Churchill and his friends bear a striking resemblance to Hitler and his friends. Hitler began his work of unleashing war by proclaiming a race theory, declaring that only German-speaking people constituted a superior nation. Mr. Churchill sets out to unleash war with a race theory, asserting that only English-speaking nations are superior nations, who are called upon to decide the destinies of the entire world. The German race theory led Hitler and his friends to the conclusion that the Germans, as the only superior nation, should rule over other nations. The English race theory leads Mr. Churchill and his friends to the conclusion that the English-speaking nations, as the only superior nations, should rule over the rest of the nations of the world.”

Israel carried out a massacre of Palestinians in Tantura in 1948.
It was documented in the memoirs of Muhammad Nimr al Khatib, published in 1950.
A few days after the massacre, al Khatib recorded the testimony of a Palestinian who had told him about summary executions [see screenshot].
The massacre was not widely acknowledged or accepted until the Israeli perpetrators confessed to the crime in the 1990s to an Israeli researcher, Teddy Katz, and it was not widely acknowledged by the general public until a documentary film was made about it by, wait for it, Israelis.

Soy judío y nunca he sido discriminado.
Que pinche grito ni que ocho cuartos.
