Happy Birthday!!! Hero:)
elizabeth eckford turns 85 today. at 15 she walked up to an all-white high school alone on her first day, because her family had no phone and she never heard the other eight students were meeting somewhere else. a mob screamed at her and armed soldiers blocked the door. she got inside later that month. the next year the governor closed every high school in little rock to stop integration, so she never graduated from central. she finished her diploma by mail and night classes, earned a college degree and served five years in the army. in 1999 she received the congressional gold medal. she walked up first and alone, and that door has stayed open for everyone since.

Gloria Steinem believed women's equality wasn't a side issue—it was everything. She fought for the right to abortion access, credit, and careers. Because of her, women can occupy spaces we were never supposed to. Thank you, Gloria.

When I first arrived in New York from a small farming village in Switzerland, everything felt too big 🇨🇭 The city. The noise. The energy. The crowds. The lights💥 But year after year New York slowly became one of my favorite places in the world🌎🙌🏻 This city challenged me. It pushed me. It brought something out of me that few places ever could⚡️ I experienced some of the strongest emotions of my career here. The battles, the late nights, the incredible atmosphere, the love from the crowd…memories that will stay with me forever 🙏🏻💭🗽 Winning the US Open,in the city that never sleeps, will forever be one of the greatest moments of my life 🏆🌇 Thank you, New York🗽 Thank you, @usopen 🎾 Thank you to every single fan who supported me, pushed me, believed in me and shared all these emotions with me over the years🙏🏻🫶🏻 Forever grateful. From @TheAthletic: “Ted Lasso” highlights something important: Women’s soccer has been asked to prove its value while operating with a fraction of the resources afforded to men. Profitability remains a challenge, but that is not unique to the women’s game. nyti.ms/4xUnpq6

Happy Birthday to my friend and angel among us—Senator Elizabeth Dole! She has led a remarkable life of public service in her own right and as the wife of Majority Leader Bob Dole. From the Cabinet to the Senate to her tireless advocacy for our nation's military and veteran caregivers through the @DoleFoundation—her leadership has always been rooted in compassion and patriotism.

Deeply saddened by the capsizing of the MV Barima off the coast of Guyana. My prayers are with the loved ones of the deceased and people all across the country. Our office will continue to assist members of the Guyanese American community impacted by this horrible tragedy. May God watch over the people of Guyana.

Since retiring one of the best things I’ve been able to do is spend more time on court with Tony Roche, including this last week. When in action I’m reminded how good he is. His resume - Lendl, Rafter, Hewitt and Federer. He needs to be more involved in Aus tennis. World class!
