Wowy twitter actually so much better now that I can see everyones tweets instead of sensationalized slop
Vitalik posting like this is getting me fired up.
I am a data scientist by trade and generalist by heart. If anyone is either in NYC or working on
- proof of humanity (privacy conscious!)
- decentralized social networks
- safety (content/human)
- prediction markets

In these five years, the Ethereum Foundation is entering a period of mild austerity, in order to be able to simultaneously meet two goals:
1. Deliver on an aggressive roadmap that ensures Ethereum's status as a performant and scalable world computer that does not compromise on robustness, sustainability and decentralization.
2. Ensures the Ethereum Foundation's own ability to sustain into the long term, and protect Ethereum's core mission and goals, including both the core blockchain layer as well as users' ability to access and use the chain with self-sovereignty, security and privacy.
To this end, my own share of the austerity is that I am personally taking on responsibilities that might in another time have been "special projects" of the EF. Specifically, we are seeking the existence of an open-source, secure and verifiable full stack of software and hardware that can protect both our personal lives and our public environments ( see vitalik.eth.limo/general/202… ). This includes applications such as finance, communication and governance, blockchains, operating systems, secure hardware, biotech (including both personal and public health), and more. If you have seen the Vensa announcement (seeking to make open silicon a commercially viable reality at least for security-critical applications), the ucritter.com/ including recent versions with built in ZK + FHE + differential-privacy features, the air quality work, my donations to encrypted messaging apps, my own enthusiasm and use for privacy-preserving, walkaway-test-friendly and local-first software (including operating systems), then you know the general spirit of what I am planning to support.
For this reason I have just withdrawn 16,384 ETH, which will be deployed toward these goals over the next few years. I am also exploring secure decentralized staking options that will allow even more capital from staking rewards to be put toward these goals in the long term.
Ethereum itself is an indispensable part of the "full-stack openness and verifiability" vision. The Ethereum Foundation will continue with a steadfast focus on developing Ethereum, with that goal in mind. "Ethereum everywhere" is nice, but the primary priority is "Ethereum for people who need it". Not corposlop, but self-sovereignty, and the baseline infrastructure that enables cooperation without domination.
In a world where many people's default mindset is that we need to race to become a big strong bully, because otherwise the existing big strong bullies will eat you first, this is the needed alternative. It will involve much more than technology to succeed, but the technical layer is something which is in our control to make happen. The tools to ensure your, and your community's, autonomy and safety, as a basic right that belongs to everyone. Open not in a bullshit "open means everyone has the right to buy it from us and use our API for $200/month" way, but actually open, and secure and verifiable so that you know that your technology is working for you.

This is why pragmatism is wrong.
If something is unjust, you have a duty to rebel, this is more important than comfort.
And so I often wash my clothes with my own bare hands.

Reminds me of why I dislike food rating websites. Aggregate reviews of a restaurant are perfect for the median palette, which no one actually has.
Same goes for any other medium that has aggregate ratings.

Made me realize that rating things on a scale of 1 - 10 or trying to justify liking something is pointless and it's simply all about how it made me feel
Surprised we aren't _only_ using quadratic voting with proposals like these... 1token1vote just doesn't work

I’m excited to share that I’ve joined @OptimismGov as their Strategic Delegation Lead. My focus will be on further decentralizing Optimism’s governance system, ensuring it is capture and attack resistant in service of the mission to build a more equitable internet. ↓
Took some time, but we got there :)
Hope $SUI continues to rip. Great intro to a new ecosystem while coin go up

Any network will have some kind of problems when traffic consistently exceeds capacity, but the threshold for encountering these issues + how the system will behave is likely quite different on Sui vs Solana.
- [threshold] Sui uses TCP/grpc for client connections, which is more mature than QUIC/quinn and thus likely to perform better/more predictably under load. But on the other hand, Solana has some nifty mechanisms like stake weighted QoS that are enabled by QUIC. It's hard to compare network load or traffic bursts since there's not public data on dropped transactions, but Sui has had some very busy days (e.g., the 66M tx day teapaw.org/Artemis__xyz/sta…, Movescriptions madness in December) without hitting network limits.
- [threshold] In Sui, all validators are producing blocks in parallel, and the DAG consensus sequences the blocks across validators. Transactions can be submitted to any validator to be sequenced, so network has to be overloaded on all validators to start negatively affecting transaction submissions.
- [behavior] If there is too much incoming network traffic, we are working on a DoS protection system based on IP rate limiting. This works well if the overload is coming from a few noisy folks (as you'd expect), but of course cannot do much if the traffic is distributed uniformly across many different IP's.
- [behavior] Beyond the network layer, if Sui's *execution* capacity is exceeded, a validator sheds load via setting owned object locks for a transaction, but refusing to sign it. The submitter can resend the same transaction after a known timeout period and it will work just fine, but they have no incentive to resubmit the same tx before the timeout (it won't work), or try to submit another one that does the same thing (the object locks will prevent this). We think this is quite important--although no system can prevent DoS, but if spamming duplicate or similar transactions is the most effective strategy, the system is implicitly encouraging this behavior.
.@SuiNetwork just shattered a groundbreaking record in blockchain history.
Most transactions recorded in a blockchain ever.

Let’s be honest — most blockchains don’t even come close to providing a smooth, user friendly #web2-like UX
Tired of seed-phrases?
Congestion?
Gas spikes?
Ever-lasting finality?
Unintuitive Dapps with awful UX?
…then simply #SwitchToSui💧
