Bonfire Night reminder: check before you light 🎆🦔 Bonfires can provide the perfect shelter for hedgehogs and other wildlife looking for a safe, dry place to hide. If you're planning to light a bonfire tonight, try to build it just before lighting, or carefully check and move the pile first. Using a torch and gently inspecting from all sides can help avoid disturbing any unexpected visitors. A quick check could save a life and help our garden wildlife stay safe this autumn. 💚

"This experience reminded me that before we can communicate change, we have to feel it. The rustle of grasses, the splash of pond water, the shared laughter after a long walk." Read Mia's account of her five days as a Young Darwin Scholar, re-live the week with her, and understand how it has changed her perspective on nature. buff.ly/IMcMOPg

As the number of young people not in education, employment or training continues to rise, Field Studies Council is calling for outdoor learning to play a central role in the solution. Whether through residentials, fieldwork, adventure learning or environmental skills training, outdoor experiences can help young people reconnect with learning and develop the skills they need for the future. Outdoor learning works, and it's time it moved from the margins to the mainstream. 👉 Read more: buff.ly/Dxj9feO

We were delighted to welcome Shropshire MP Julia Buckley to our Preston Montford Field Centre recently. Over tea and cake, we discussed the many benefits outdoor learning offers children and young people, alongside the challenges facing both our charity and the schools and groups we work with. It was also great to explore the opportunities, both locally and nationally, that our new +Adventure and curriculum courses can offer, helping more people discover the benefits of learning, adventure and time spent outdoors.
