I think I'm gonna pretty much be done with Twitter, at least for a while. Come find me at Bluesky bsky.app/profile/fienen.bsky…

Cool moment postgame between Kenneth Walker III and Jonathan Taylor, two of the best running backs in the league 🤝

Elon Musk's been breaking federal law since before the election. The fact that he's continuing w/ impunity tells you all you need to know about the GOP. Democracy is dead to them, they kneel before the oligarchy like peasants. B/c, that's exactly the way that relationship works.
If Matt keeps up his current strategy, WP Engine might end up owning Automattic when it's all said and done.
From the filing for an immediate injunction against Automattic:

"Financially associated with WP Engine" also means having a ACF Pro license, a WPDB Migrate Pro license, an WP Offload Media license or donating to LocalWP, by the way.

Matthew Charles Mullenweg, what is this. Death by a thousand cuts?

ALT Screenshot of a WordPress.org login page with fields for username or email address and password. The username field is filled with "thisisan" and there is a checkbox stating "I am not affiliated with WP Engine in any way, financially or otherwise." There's also a "Remember Me" option and a "Log In" button, as well as "Lost password?" and "Create an account" links below. The page footer allows language selection, currently set to English.

Please consider my plugins hosted on wordpress.org to be abandoned. When @photomatt was asked if owning an ACF license banned users from logging into .org, he replied "Consult an attorney" See:

Since one of my customers still hosts with WP Engine, I am financially associated with WP Engine.
So now, after contributing for 13 years, I am no longer allowed to contribute to WordPress.
What the actual fuck.
WordPress just willfully feeding evidence to WP Engine's lawyers is such a stupid and wild thing to see happening in real time.

Listening to a lawyer go through the WordPress/WP Engine drama is very cathartic. Also nicely validating of my overall opinion and expectations on how this will probably go. twitch.tv/videos/2261286307
If there's one takeaway from @photomatt's sudden temper tantrum against @wpengine, it's how desperately the community needs real governance present in WordPress's development and management. This isn't the first time Matt's ego has harmed the community, but it should be the last.
Remember, Automattic INVESTED IN WP ENGINE several years ago, and then chose to divest themselves. Funny how there was no issue with the business practices then, which haven't changed significantly in the intervening time.
Matt Mullenweg, CEO of Automattic, has misused his control of WordPress to interfere with WP Engine customers’ access to WordPress.org, asserting that he did so because WP Engine filed litigation against Wordpress.org. This simply is not true. Our Cease & Desist letter was a letter – not a lawsuit – and was directed at Automattic for Matt’s pattern of serious and repeated misconduct – behavior that must stop for the health and stability of the entire community.
Matt Mullenweg’s unprecedented and unwarranted action interferes with the normal operation of the entire WordPress ecosystem, impacting not just WP Engine and our customers, but all WordPress plugin developers and open-source users who depend on WP Engine tools like ACF. We are taking immediate steps to remediate the impact of this action. We remain steadfastly committed to supporting WP Engine customers, users, and the entire WordPress community.
