Can you hear me at the back? Quick PSA. * Football can’t come “home” if you didn’t invent it in the first place! * Unrelated note, I’ve been to Spain 4 separate times on holiday (and one stopover in Madrid), practically local. ⚽️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿⚽️🇪🇸⚽️ #euro2024 #scottishhistory

A thorough overview of @glasgow_sugar’s research on the formative role slavery and the Atlantic economy played in the making of Scottish capitalism by @NeilMackay which also explores its contemporary political implications. Well worth your time. heraldscotland.com/politics/…

Might as well weigh in for the craic; evidence points in one direction as far as I can see and that is squarely on Richard III having the Princes in the tower murdered. Looks bad in hindsight but obviously politically intelligent move 1/2 #PrincesintheTower #RichardIII – at Glasgow, Scotland

Unsure why people are trying to rehabilitate him like he’s their pal? Guy in my profile picture, James II, stabbed the Earl of Douglas to death in cold blood but I still think he’s an interesting bloke. Just maybe don’t go to any dinner parties he invites you to🤷‍♂️ 2/2 #RichardIII – at Glasgow, Scotland

Scotland is not a colony; Scotland never was a colony; and no one colonised Scotland.
“Independence isn’t going to happen yet. Because Labour and the Tories are united in their desire to retain Scotland as a colony” Political economist @RichardJMurphy says Westminster is denying Scotland a referendum, against democratic values #bbcdn bit.ly/3S4wKtt

#OTD in 1223 (or pos. 1222) died Bjarni Kolbeinsson, bishop of Orkney. A prelate with literary interests, it has even been suggested that he may have been the author of the Orkneyinga saga. It has also been argued that Bjarni was behind the attempt to make Earl Rǫgnvaldr a saint.

The only known gold angel of James IV of Scotland. It's probably not a coin. It has been suggested that it may have served a ceremonial function, possibly in connection with James IV's invasion of England in 1513. From the @britishmuseum #ScottishHistory #Numismatics
