The objection is not to fighting antisemitism for most people. It is to redefining it to the benefit of a foreign state. Seven of the eleven examples attached to the IHRA definition concern the State of Israel, not hatred of Jews. Kenneth Stern, who drafted the definition, warned in 2019 that it was being weaponised to silence criticism of Israel. When anti-Zionism is counted as antisemitism, the fight against real antisemitism is the first casualty.
Funny how so many far-left ‘anti-racists’ who passionately declare themselves opposed to antisemitism in all its forms always immediately try to undermine every attempt to fight antisemitism.

"Israel's genocide is a lie." You've heard it from podiums, editorials, reply threads. Here's a test: ask the next person who says it which article of the Genocide Convention sets out the crime — or backs their denial. They can't tell you. They've never read it. And the denial depends on nobody ever looking. The Convention. The case law. Srebrenica, Rwanda, the record at The Hague, and why denying a genocide is the same act as denying the Holocaust. fireline.press/p/israels-gen…

The Board of Deputies says it stands "with Jewish Greens, whose concerns have been rejected in the most callous way." Jewish Greens took no position on the motion. Their own briefing says members are very divided. Some support it "in its entirety." Several are listed as its official supporters. The Board has not defended Jewish Greens. It has decided which of them count as "real Jews."
Replying to @BoardofDeputies
The Board of Deputies has voted that a British political party led by a Jew is racist just for being anti-Zionist, when one in ten British Jews identifies as anti-Zionist. They have de-Jewed Jews. In August, the Employment Appeal Tribunal upheld that anti-Zionism is a protected belief under the Equality Act 2010. So the Board has declared a belief protected by British law to be racism. Zionism is a political ideology from the 1890s. Judaism is three thousand years old. Fusing the two doesn't protect Jews. It puts every Jew on earth on the hook for the conduct of one state. States don't have a right to exist. People do. Stop weaponising antisemitism. fireline.press/p/the-vocabul…

In 2017, 19% of American adults read at the lowest levels the OECD measures. By 2023 it was 28%: more than one in four, unable to get much past a simple sentence. Functional literacy had held steady at about 82% since 2012. Then it fell to 72%. That isn't just a dip, it's a collapse in the education system.

Nearly one in five adults in England struggles to read everyday text. Functional literacy rose from about 81% in 1999 to a peak of 85% in 2011. By 2023, the OECD's latest survey put it back near 82%. A decade of gains, mostly gone. And no national survey measures whether adults can write at all. A country that cannot read deeply cannot tell fact from fiction.

Long-form journalism is crucial to understanding the complex world and the events happening around us. Social media timelines and shorts flatten complex issues into binary soundbites. They leave no room for the creativity and critical thinking needed to think issues through, let alone find solutions. The timeline tells you what to feel, and with too little knowledge, or with misinformation and disinformation, the feeling is often wrong. Long-form gives you the facts to find out.

One year into the Gaza ceasefire, more than 100 organisations, Amnesty among them, say it exists in name only. The UN has documented 1,076 Palestinians killed since it began. The deal promised 600 aid trucks a day. Israel, which controls the crossings, now says 250, less than half of what it signed. The overall toll stands above 74,000, a count the Israeli military itself has accepted, before the missing under the rubble are counted. A ceasefire that one side keeps and the other doesn't is not a ceasefire.

Antisemitism is being redefined, and the people who wrote the definitions are among those warning about it. Seven of the eleven examples attached to the IHRA definition concern the State of Israel. Kenneth Stern, its lead drafter, told the US Congress it "was never intended as a tool to target or chill speech" on campus. The ADL's 2023 audit counted 1,317 pro-Palestine rallies as antisemitic incidents, an institution using its influence in a way that stifles free speech. Now the IHRA definition is heading for British classrooms. When criticism of a foreign state is counted as hatred of a people, real antisemitism becomes harder to see, not easier. #Antisemitism fireline.press/p/the-vocabul…

The Prime Minister cites storms and cyberattacks. The government's own checklist also includes war. With talk of war with Russia, the public deserves to know which of those he's actually preparing for.

This isn't about Britain's remembrance. It's about shielding Israel's war from it. Calling mourning for dead Palestinians "hate" protects a foreign government's record, not British veterans.
“What is essentially an anti-democratic, violent hate movement is taking one of the most iconic emblems of one of the most solemn days and is now trying to hijack it – it’s absolutely nauseating.” CAA’s Director of Investigations and Enforcement, Stephen Silverman, speaks to TalkTV on the BBC’s “refreshing” stance on banning the ‘Palestine poppy’ in its upcoming Remembrance Day coverage. @SSilvUK

The government has accepted all 27 recommendations of the Bell review on antisemitism in schools. Its own pages undermine its headline. "Three in five Jewish students" rests on 92 respondents. The report says the data "should be treated with caution." The executive summary drops that warning. The summary calls antisemitism in schools "increasingly significant." The report's own CST figures show incidents targeting schools fell 23%, from 266 to 204. The same teacher survey is described as 1,000 responses, then 2,000. A key teacher statistic is unpublished. Antisemitism is rising, and we cannot combat hate with faulty or inflated numbers. In a world of increasing misinformation and disinformation, we must have rigorous, accurate reporting and scientific data collection.
Antisemitism has no place in our schools, colleges or society. We accept all 27 recommendations from Sir David Bell’s review. We will equip schools and colleges to identify and challenge antisemitism, strengthen Holocaust education and help every young person learn in safety.

Theodor Herzl, founder of political Zionism, in his 1895 diary: "The anti-Semites will become our most dependable friends, the anti-Semitic countries our allies." The plan: use "accredited anti-Semites" to liquidate the property of Jews leaving Europe. Both wanted the same thing. Jews out. (Complete Diaries, Vol. 1, pp. 83–84)

Horrific. Every child deserves to be safe at school. Jewish children, Muslim children, all children. Same Home Office figures: 3,162 offences against Jews, up 10%. 5,132 against Muslims, up 15%. Race hate: 107,926.

Rightly. And the same recognition should extend to anti-Muslim hatred, up 20% in a year by the Home Office's own figures. Children deserve one standard of protection, whatever their faith.
