My first tech blog post in ages is out, and I'm so happy with what I have to tell you. I got a Kubernetes-based Rails dev environment running on my laptop without running a single command as root... and I created a script so you can too! medium.com/@fishpercolator/u…

I'm excited to launch funetics: a free resource for phonetics & pronunciation. If you're a language learner or teacher, this is for you! The site will grow over the years to encompass more languages and more sounds. Check it out now at funetics.com/

Here's a sneak preview of a new feature coming soon in name.pn.
Is your name David and you hate people calling you "Dave"? Is your name Kara but you would also love people to call you "Starbuck"?
I love this cold email so much.
It's like they changed their marketing strategy halfway through writing it and just went "ah fuck it, that'll do".

name.pn has always had its eye on more than just a web page. We want providers to use your profile to address you properly in their tech.
To do this, we need an API... which I'm pleased to announce!
Check out the interactive docs at name.pn/api-docs/

New! Some of you prefer not to record the pronunciation of your full name, so now you can choose which version of your name the recording is for!
As always, any feedback on this feature is welcome!

Good news for people using their "one link" on Twitter and Instagram for their profiles. You can now add onward links to a "More about me" section at the end of your page, like this: name.pn/quinn-daley
Let me know if you find this feature useful or any feedback!
Over three years ago I made my only contribution to Core @rails - the up_only method. I get to use it *all the time* and every time I get a little buzz. I hope it's been useful to others!

I really really really miss the 'bundles' feature of @inboxbygmail, now that I only work at Fish Percolator one day a week more than ever.
When they shut down Inbox they said this feature was coming to @gmail soon but no dice years later!
How do you all organise your inboxes?
I think this is my first ever acknowledgement in a published printed book! Thank you @MrDaveHolloway for your incredibly kind words - I hope I continue to live up to them!

Very proud to have worked with @eandsleeds to build the tech backing this service, and very pleased with the result.
It's fantastic to see a local authority embracing uncluttered "does one thing and one thing well" applications like this one. Long may this trend continue!
