Every year I attend the 9/11 Memorial Ceremony with my family. Something about the 25th anniversary set in a bit more. I was only a kid when my uncle was killed on 9/11, but as I’ve gotten older, I realize more & more the connectedness of the world and how many people this affected of all shapes, colors, and sizes. Especially on this anniversary, I felt unification at both the memorial and throughout New York City that I feel America has not had in a long-time. If there’s anything I hope for, it’s that more people can feel unified and be kind to one another in this way going forward. I also now realize how much more I wish I had the chance to know my uncle. Hearing stories of his personal drive and generosity with others have always inspired me. His major success on Wall Street was cut short, but his impact was profound. I only hope to give back to my family and others in a way like he did, and that has always kept me motivated throughout my whole life. As someone who only truly remembers the attacks on 9/11 from stories I’ve been told, I hope to carry those onto the next generation so that my uncle’s and so many others’ stories never die, and so that we may #neverforget
