UPDATE: 42 year-old Hassan Jihad Ibn Kariem has been identified as the man killed on the Goliath roller coaster at Six Flags Over Georgia yesterday. Kariem was a staff member at the Wesley International Academy in the Atlanta Public Schools.
Kariem's family released this photo and told @11AliveNews that "he was a passionate educator who loved his city and was invested in bringing families back together."
The Atlanta Public Schools released this statement:
"Atlanta Public Schools extends its deepest condolences to the family, friends, and loved ones of Mr. Kariem. He was a cherished member of the Wesly International Academy and APS families whose presence and impact will be deeply missed by our students, staff, and all those whose lives he touched. I love roller coasters more than life itself, if I die on a roller coaster you better tell them it’s what I would have wanted

About a year ago, you guys did a truly unfathomable thing. Something that completely blew my mind… You gave The Life of a Showgirl the biggest first week for an album in history. I took a trip to Sweden to celebrate with Max and Shellback, my two collaborators on this album. Really we just wanted to reflect and take in how grateful we were for the moment we were in, but there was a studio there and we did what we do when we feel anything at all: We wrote more songs. I hope you love them, because they were born out of pure gratitude for your exuberance for and celebration of the album we made. The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore including four new songs is out on Friday and available to pre-order and save now at taylor.lnk.to/TSTLOASTheEnco… ❤️🔥

Can’t believe this is real … but the one and only Dolly Parton has passed away.
The news was announced in a video on her social media accounts by Brian Seaver, Dolly’s nephew.
What can one say about Dolly Parton? She was a gifted musician and actress. But over the last decade covering her theme park, I got to see another side of Dolly.
She was the hardest worker I ever met. This woman was in her 70s and would be performing in one city at night and would be on a stage at Dollywood the next morning.
I had the honor of sitting down with Dolly for an interview at @Dollywood twice. When she came into town, she didn’t spend her entire days talking to tons of media to make sure she got as much press as possible. Instead, I watched Dolly meeting with family after family - people who were in need of comfort, people who were sick, anybody who needed a boost that only she could provide.
Dolly knew the power she had to change people’s spirits just by spending some time with them. She and her team didn’t publicize that she did this all over the place. She did these things because she cared and knew she could make a difference. And as we all know, she used her brand to raise awareness and money for so many tremendous causes.
I will have much more to come on her incredible life and how she will be honored and celebrated for years to come. Her nephew said it well in the video:
“She never saw a door she couldn’t open, and the door she opened made and changed history.”
RIP to my friend, Dolly Parton. ♥️ 🙏
