The BRP Sierra Madre is more than a vessel stationed at Ayungin Shoal. It represents the Philippines’ continued presence and commitment to protecting its sovereign rights in the West Philippine Sea.
As Defense Secretary Gilberto Teodoro Jr. emphasized, any attempt to tow the vessel away would be taken very seriously, given its status as a Philippine military vessel.
