It always comes down to wanting slave labor.
Good news, red staters. Lots of jobs now open to pick fruit and vegetables in the broiling sun on minimum wage

James Lindsay, a liberal, is in fact part of “the left” his ally-ship is the kind that sees you take the slings and arrows and then stabs you in the back and puts the crown on himself.
I think both James Lindsay and Matt Walsh are valuable allies against the Left, and I'm thankful for them

Still true.
Any Christian who closely associates with James Lindsay is a person I do not respect.

Oh the reprobate is degenerate and wicked?! I’m shocked by this unexpected turn of events!
Furthermore for you champions of James Lindsay out there…. They would have thought him subversive too. And until 20th century SCOTUS overreach he wouldn’t have even been able to hold office in some states.

The below was written by founding father Samuel Adams. It’s important to note that this Brit hasn’t the first clue about American republicanism or its origins.

Citizenship and nationality are not necessarily the same thing. Paul was a Roman citizen born in Tarsus but he wasn’t Roman or Greek.

This isn’t some great revelation. No one ought to confuse me with an Englishmen. Though we are closely related I am not an Englishman, I am an American, a unique people who exist as an ethnic nation. Some people balk at this idea as though all citizens of our country must be of the same nationality. That is not the case, but we must also assess how allowing other nations to live among us might actually hurt the nations who are already here.

Sounds like the paperwork error explanation was four years in the making. Best case scenario, a misunderstanding of temporary status. DHS is correct that even if someone is beloved by Americans (or in this case some American Christians), the law is the law. It must applied with biblical equity. I encourage my Christian brothers and sisters who appreciate Sey’s work to pray for his family and consider helping them as they likely have needs starting a new life in Canada, Ghana, or wherever they end up. The Left is already mocking the fact that Sey supports ICE and allegedly got a taste of his own medicine. This will be used to move the general population toward an anti-ICE posture. We, who are patriots, should be clear that we support Sey’s positive views on ICE even if he failed to abide by the laws they enforce, whether ignorantly or not. Finally, there are people with axes to grind for Sey’s attacks on others whom he believed did not share the correct position on race. I have at times been critical of Sey myself. Whatever those differences, now is the time to be thankful for a President who takes border security seriously and to pray and hope for the best for the Sey family in their next chapter.
I have received a statement from DHS regarding Sam Sey: “On October 21, ICE arrested Samuel Sey, an illegal alien from Ghana, at the Columbus International Airport. Sey entered the United States legally in 2022 but overstayed his length of admission by over four years, in violation of our nation’s laws. Sey has no pending applications and accepted voluntary departure. He will remain in ICE custody until removed from the United States.   “We do not pick and choose which laws to enforce or where to enforce them.   “We encourage all illegal aliens to take control of their departure with the CBP Home App. The United States is offering illegal aliens $3,000 and a free flight to self-deport now. We encourage every person here illegally to take advantage of this offer and reserve the chance to come back to the U.S. the right legal way to live the American dream. If not, you will be arrested and deported without a chance to return.” - DHS SPOX As I get more information, I will update.

If they come legally and have obtained citizenship or an actual permanent legal status I do not want those people deported, but if illegally I want them removed. The American spouse and family should pursue that legal status in the home country if they are permanently banned.
Replying to @Brian_Sauve
Do you want to denaturalize and deport immigrant spouses of Americans, who’ve come here legally and have obtained citizenship, and are one flesh with their American spouses? And does it change your answer if they are Christians or not?

I have benefited greatly from some of Sey’s writing, but if he did break the law he did a great disservice to his family and put them in this position. I won’t let my appreciation of his work change that opinion. It was his responsibility to do it correctly and no one else’s. I’m sorry for his hardship and am praying for him and his family, I hope they are reunited and blessed in whatever country they end up in, but if we do not enforce these laws universally the whole point of having them is undermined.

Post script: I am not pleased with this or celebrating it. It’s a shame all around.

It looks like @SlowToWrite overstayed his legal residence in the US by years. And apparently, he may not be legal in Canada either, as DHS has described him as "from Ghana." He is now voluntarily deporting. Does he deserve this? Yes. The difficulty for his family is on him - not our immigration laws, nor on his theological or political views. The GiveSendGo fundraiser's claim that he is a legal resident is false. Yet, he only "got what he deserved" in terms of his facing the legal consequences for his failure to follow immigration laws, not because his views or his color warrant removal.

People can do just as much good writing and tweeting from Ghana or Canada as they can from America.

This doesn't sound like a clerical error.

This is what the suffragettes wanted.
Yesterday at Universal Studios we saw three different middle-aged women pushing around little dogs in strollers, clogging up already overcrowded walkways. They were not service dogs, they were accessories. Your five-pound Shih Tzu isn’t interested in roller coasters or Harry Potter. They don’t belong in the theme park. Everywhere that is supposed to be for kids is being overtaken by narcissistic dog ladies. And I’m a dog owner, I love dogs. But it’s ridiculous.

I never hated the ending of Mass Effect 3 when it came out as much as most people did. Or at least I wasn't surprised by it. Let me explain. See the thing is, Mass Effect is, at it's root, cosmic horror. The Reapers are Lovecraftian with a paint of sci-fi. This is most obvious is Mass Effect 1 when you first talk to Sovereign and realize just what kind of story you are in. And the thing about cosmic horror is you don't win through fighting. No one wins a war against Cthulhu, and if they do, it's because they weren't really in a cosmic horror story. So the options for Mass Effect 3 were always either 1) all pretense of cosmic horror is abandoned and we beat the reapers through combined guile and military force or b) some semblance of cosmic horror is maintained, and the route to beating the reapers is an outside context solution. Some might call it a deus ex machina. So from that standpoint, the overall 'kind' of resolution that we got in Mass Effect 3 was more or less what I expected. Now I think it's perfectly fair to criticize execution, and the replies to this will entirely be people who didn't read my post and just want to talk about how bad color coded endings suck (btw, I think if the endings hadn't been associated with a color public opinion of them would be higher. Possibly a hotter take than the rest of the post) But there you have it. Genre dictated the 'kind' of ending the series had. Mass Effect isn't Halo. It's not Mil-Scifi. A purely military victory would have been a betrayal of genre.

A common lament I've seen with writing boils down to "I want to write a strategically smart character but I am not strategically smart." It's okay. You don't have to be George S. Patton III to write a clever-clogs. You just have to be aware of the moving pieces in your own book (and it's your own book, so I hope you're aware of them). The strategically smart character can read between the lines and see the enemy's flaws. You've already written them down. Find the flaws that have been put on display somewhere that character would be aware of them. Then build a plan around exploiting them. This does two things: One, it establishes your Sun Tzu as smart enough to pick things up that aren't explicitly told to him. B, it reinforces the existence of the flaws in your antagonist, making them consistent traits rather than one-off mistakes. Third, it gives you clear checkpoints for the plan itself where things can go wrong but the underlying understanding still leads to a measure of success for your smarty-pants. As an example: You have a character who knows the enemy commander in a siege. They're not exactly good friends, but Mr. Brain has seen enough of the enemy and his culture to have a good idea how he thinks. Maybe he's a student of history and has an idea of how the two peoples involved have related in the past. He now has a solid grounding for what to expect. The enemy has surprises and is able to take tactical victories. But because Mr. Brain knows, in general, how the enemy thinks, he is able to plan around the tactical loss to turn the final outcome into a victory of some sort, close or pyrrhic. He can plan twists and surprises that aren't pulled out of a butt, but rather develop naturally as a consequence of everything that's been happening. Say the enemy shares a pantheon with the defenders; Mr. Brain picks the temple of his enemy's favorite god as the fallback point. He's now exploiting his enemy's reverence to buy himself a little extra time if he needs to make a quick escape. Hopefully you've already established that all the temples are linked by tunnels or something that allow our hero to escape. The key to coming up with a clever strategy for a clever strategist ultimately boils down to knowing which pieces you've put on the chess board, and then exploiting them. If you hit a dead end and there are no pieces left, then you need to slip another piece onto the board somewhere earlier in the book. You don't have to be a strategic genius to write a strategic genius. You just have to know more about what's happening than your characters, and then let your strategic genius character figure out more than everybody else has.

If only there had been a popular writer and filmmaker in the 20th century who could have told us the truth and warned us of what was necessary! Alas, no such person existed.

If you think the state becoming more like the decadence of ancient Rome is the proper way to operate a government you are going to receive the penalty you deserve.
