We were honored that Diamond Lil' - the last flying B-24 in the US - did a flyover at the JIMMY premiere in Fort Worth! What a sight to see.
If you are in the DFW this weekend, go see her in person at the @CAF1957 Aviation Fest!!!
"Jimmy," set to release on November 6, introduces audiences to the World War II military service of Hollywood actor James "Jimmy" Stewart.
While widely remembered for his storied acting career, known for roles in It's a Wonderful Life and Mr. Smith Goes to Washington, Stewart was an accomplished bomber pilot who flew 20 combat missions over Nazi-occupied Europe with the Eighth Air Force. He served as the commander of the 453rd Bomb Group, flying Consolidated Bโ24 Liberators, and later spent nearly three decades in the Air Force Reserve, retiring as a brigadier general.
To mark the film's release, the Dallas-based Commemorative Air Force (@CAF1957) is highlighting Stewart's legacy during its Aviation Discovery Fest on November 6 and 7 at Dallas Executive Airport. Visitors will be able to see Diamond Lil, the CAFโs Bโ24 Liberator. As the only flying Bโ24A left in the world, the aircraft is a rare surviving example of the bomber type that Stewart and his fellow airmen flew during the war. Film director Aaron Burns noted that the CAF provided critical technical assistance to the production to ensure the aircraft's history was accurately portrayed.

I loved it ๐ฅฐ
It was hard watching the Kiel, Germany target run. knowing my cousin was in Jimmyโs formation.
It did a great service to all those who have family who served in WWII. I was pleasantly surprised how much focused on the war.
KJ Apa knocked it out of the park. His accent was *perfect.*
Probably making my top 10 movies list โค๏ธ

I havenโt been to a movie theater in two decadesโฆ they actually make me very uncomfortable with only a few ways out and I am also extremely sensitive to movement and loud noise.
But naturally I had to be at the opening of @jimmymovie2026 โค๏ธ

A great piece on the trailblazer Gracie Fields, entertainer to the British Expeditionary Force. This article looks at how a British working-class icon single-handedly forced the War Office to open the front lines to female performers.

Just finished the new @WeHaveWaysPod 4 episode series on the Kokoda campaign of 1942. A very solid foundation provided by @almurray & @James1940 for a very complex slice of history. Wasn't expecting the degree of detail & analysis provided. If you're new to this topic start here

U.S. Army First Lieutenant Turney White Leonard of Dallas, Texas, was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor for his heroic actions on November 4-6, 1944, near Kommerscheidt, Germany.
Turney was commissioned in the Army in 1942 via the ROTC program at Texas A&M University and was a platoon leader in Company C, 893rd Tank Destroyer Battalion. Between November 4 -6, 1944, Leonardโs company was heavily engaged in the fighting in and around Kommerscheidt, Germany.
During this time, he repeatedly exposed himself to hostile fire and assumed command when officers became incapacitated. When a mortar round blew his arm off, he was forced to report to the aid station, but he ordered the medic to place him in a concealed foxhole with a weapon to fend off the Germans who were about to overrun the position. His remains were found after the War in a field grave dug by the Germans.
He was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor for his actions on November 4-6, 1944. Leonard is buried in Grove Hill Memorial Park in Dallas, Texas.
