These five divisions define how far we can go in space From: two-way communicable to one-way communicable to observable now to observable someday to forever unobservable, here are the dividing lines that define how we see our Universe. bigthink.com/starts-with-a-b…

We deeply regret the ratification today by the Libyan Parliament of the so-called Libyan-Türkiye Memorandum of Understanding on the delimitation of maritime jurisdictions in the Mediterranean Sea. We recall that the EU’s position on this matter was clearly stated by the European Council in 2019 and remains unchanged. This agreement infringes upon the sovereign rights of third states, it does not comply with the Law of the Sea, and is null and void. We reaffirm our solidarity with Greece and Cyprus. We reiterate the EU's well known position against any outside interference in Libya.

New images captured by SMILE, a joint mission between ESA and the Chinese Academy of Sciences, show the entire auroral oval surrounding Earth’s North Pole in ultraviolet light, a global view that has not been seen in this way for around 18 years. The video also shows the ring becoming brighter during a geomagnetic substorm, when stored energy in the magnetosphere is suddenly released and particles are accelerated toward the polar regions. As these particles enter the upper atmosphere, they excite atmospheric gases and produce the auroral glow. Observing the aurora from space makes it possible to study it as a complete, dynamic structure rather than only from individual locations on the ground.

This is not an explosion in the usual sense. It is an execution by gravity. Astronomers have released a near frame-by-frame visualization of the moment a supermassive black hole catches a neutron star — a city-sized lump of matter denser than anything you could hold — and pulls it into a thread. The star does not simply fall. It is stretched, shredded, unwound. What was a whole world a second earlier becomes a stream of ultra-dense debris racing toward the event horizon. The massacre shakes spacetime itself. A burst of gravitational waves races across the cosmos, and a blast of raw energy flies outward. Earthbound instruments do not see the black hole. They catch the scar it leaves in the fabric of the world. No lab can stage this. Physics is tested here at the edge: too close, too fast, too final. The black hole does not argue with the star. It just erases it — and leaves us the ripple

This sight was worth getting out of bed early. Just over four years ago, Comet C/2020 F3 (NEOWISE) rose before dawn to the delight of northern sky enthusiasts awake that early. Up before sunrise on July 8th, the featured photographer was able to capture in dramatic fashion one of the few comets visible to the unaided eye this century, an inner-Solar System intruder that has become known as the Great Comet of 2020. The resulting video detailed Comet NEOWISE from Italy rising over the Adriatic Sea. The featured time-lapse video combines over 240 images taken over 30 minutes. The comet was seen rising through a foreground of bright and undulating noctilucent clouds, and before a background of distant stars. Comet NEOWISE remained unexpectedly bright for over a month, with its ion and dust tails found to emanate from a nucleus spanning about five kilometers across. Video Credit & Copyright: Paolo Girotti

NASA has released one of the most detailed visualizations ever created of Earth’s ocean currents. Using data from satellites and advanced ocean models, the map reveals massive rivers of moving water, swirling eddies hundreds of miles wide, and the powerful Gulf Stream carrying warm water from the Gulf of Mexico across the Atlantic.

This car video is not real but AI-generated (Seedance2 model).
