So after 2 days of mindless outrage, real story emerges
1. India gave refuge to all Iranian ships that had asked for it
2. One Iranian ship had been invited by Sri Lanka after the exercise in India was over
3. That is why the Iranian ship was going to SL.
4. As hostilities with US broke out, Sri Lanka became nervous about letting the Iranian ship in
5. So the Iranian vessel remained in open waters near Sri Lanka, waiting for permission.
6. During this time, the ship was sunk by a US torpedo.
That's all ... the whole thing had nothing at all to do with India.
But on social media, the urge to hate, curse and blame India for any random event anywhere is so intense that entire ecosystem went mad about this.
Pathetic.

so, finally we see through the fog of war.
there were three iranian ships that came for naval exercise on 25th feb.
they were offered shelter in India.
> one ship took that offer and is docked in Kochi.
> second ship declined the offer. went ahead, as war raged. they asked permission from sri lanka to stay. the chinese controlled port in sri lanka made them wait for 11 hours, then declied. as the ship went in international waters, it was torpedoed by USA. India helped immediately when the call for help reached.
> third one took shelter in sri lanka.
there was a concerted effort from pakistan and china to defame india on this!

The louder the calls for India to jump into the U.S. – Iran naval fight, the clearer the puppet strings become, and they lead straight back to Beijing.

My concerns are a bit different @MvsNegi . Our citizens often forget that militaries are instruments/tools to achieve political aims and loss/damage to military instruments, when achieving the directives, is accepted, and expected, by all militaries. We can NOT have our citizens beating their chests and ramping up pressure on the govt of the day (whichever party, that is not the concern), just because some of our "tools" got damaged/shot/sunk while the military works to achieve its "aims". Our citizens will hve to grit their teeth and bear the pain/sorrow over the loss. But military/government cannot be subjected to pressure only because of the loss of tool/lives. "Mission aim" is paramount and all service personnel are prepared to face such consequences. We are not ready to be a "great power" if our citizens give up too fast. Our people will need to strengthen their hearts, and keep emotions under control, if and when we are deployed to achieve national aims. Today's response of some of our citizens and Twitterati for a loss of an IRIN vessel which belongs to a nation at war, is concerning. I hope I am wrong and this "noise" was more from a "political" perspective than emotional..!! Such emotional outbursts, if we were to suffer some loss/damage in achieving our national aims, would be very demoralising for the deployed forces. Our people need to be strong and resolute when armed forces get deployed on a national mission, nowithstanding damage/loss. "Victory- no matter what" should be the national spirit, if and when, forces get deployed to fight a war.

Test-time adaptation with slot-centric models
paper page: huggingface.co/papers/2203.1…
Current supervised visual detectors, though impressive within their training distribution, often fail to segment out-of-distribution scenes into their constituent entities. Recent test-time adaptation methods use auxiliary self-supervised losses to adapt the network parameters to each test example independently and have shown promising results towards generalization outside the training distribution for the task of image classification. In our work, we find evidence that these losses can be insufficient for instance segmentation tasks, without also considering architectural inductive biases. For image segmentation, recent slot-centric generative models break such dependence on supervision by attempting to segment scenes into entities in a self-supervised manner by reconstructing pixels. Drawing upon these two lines of work, we propose Slot-TTA, a semi-supervised instance segmentation model equipped with a slot-centric inductive bias, that is adapted per scene at test time through gradient descent on reconstruction or novel view synthesis objectives. We show that test-time adaptation in Slot-TTA greatly improves instance segmentation in out-of-distribution scenes. We evaluate Slot-TTA in several 3D and 2D scene instance segmentation benchmarks and show substantial out-of-distribution performance improvements against state-of-the-art supervised feed-forward detectors and self-supervised test-time adaptation methods.

The most baseless speculation I have seen. First of all, I am not in politics and I am super super busy with R&D. My life is code all the time now. Second, Annamalai-ji's US visit had NOTHING at all do with my personal life.
So please don't spread such BASELESS rumors.
