The Geneva Convention says itâs a war crime to target journalists, even if they work for an enemy organisation. Itâs also a war crime to target medical workers. After the killing of 3 Lebanese TV journos last week, several medics coming to help them were killed as well.

I went to see that bridge. It is undamaged and traffic was flowing normally. Thailand has not reported any air strikes in that area. If a Thai plane did drop bombs they did not hit anywhere close to the bridge. But people here very frightened and many IDPs left camp at Srei Snam.

My friend Tom Andrews is exactly right:
The UN's Tom Andrews told the BBC that during past relief efforts, the military blocked aid and arrested aid workers. "What we know from past humanitarian disasters, natural disasters, is that the junta does not reveal the truth. It also has a habit of blocking humanitarian aid from getting to where it is most needed," he said. "They weaponise this aid. They send it to those areas that they have control of and they deny it to areas that they do not. So you have areas in which the most acute needs exist and you have literally aid trying to get in, trucks blocking the way, people being arrested and that has been the pattern of their response to natural disasters in the past. I'm afraid I'm fully expecting that that will be the case with this disaster."

What is it with Israel and murdering women journalists?
#Syria: Syrian State TV news anchor #SafaaAhmed killed in Israeli airstrike on Damascus. Women Press Freedom strongly condemns the deliberate targeting and killing of Ahmed and other media professionals by Israel. We call on Israel to immediately halt all attacks on journalists and civilians, and demand full cooperation with the @IntlCrimCourt to investigate and prosecute potential war crimes in Palestine, Lebanon, and Syria. Journalists must not be silenced â we urge the global community to hold Israel accountable for these violations and to protect press freedom.
