ALT I think there’s a bit of nuance when it comes to Elwurd in that even though she’s not predatory, she still might not be the right person for Joey, and that E is more meant to be J’s idealised first crush than someone with whom she will actually have a meaningful relationship; but I respect your opinion since I know you like JoEl and I definitely agree with everything else. The Hiveswap fanbase in particular suffers from the delusion that allowing people who are very wrong or uneducated about certain topics (be them from the game or not) to remain ignorant is keeping the peace and that no one should argue about anything; many including myself have been affected by this because it makes discussion of the game incredibly unenjoyable. Joey is unrefutably lesbian and a very central part of her character progression IS and WILL be discovering and accepting that she is so; most anyone should be able to see that, and it…

ALT …is certainly not biphobic or disrespectful to claim that a progression where Joey “realises she can like boys too” would be ineffective and unsatisfactory. This would also be especially hypocritical among Hiveswap fans because DamXef is an incredibly popular ship and its fans do not like being told that their relationship is very destructive and unhealthy even though it is (and even though it could be argued whether it’s abusive or not. I wonder if by the time Hauntswitch releases, we’ll still be arguing about DamXef); I fortunately have not yet met someone who likes XefDam yet criticises JoEl but by general consensus and the probability of someone like that existing I can imagine that it’s happened and I understand your frustration. I love my Hiveswap very much but trying to explore what it has to say can be a pain when surrounded by others who think that being “nice” is the only way to be respectful towards others but actually lacking any of the goodwill that allows that to happen…
