A fun start for our kindergarten students! Thank you @FPWarriorSports for helping the young Warriors! @FPSchools
Yes, to all of this! Teaching students metacognition strategies and how to monitor their learning is essential! How we respond to students and the questions we ask them when they seek assistance, encourages the student to think and reflect on their work and learning.
"The only way to make learning truly relevant to each student is to teach the tools and strategies they will need to take a more active role in their learning," special education teacher Nina Parrish writes: edut.to/48XlYeG

January is School Board Recognition Month ❤️ Gilles-Sweet & EEC students created a colorful banner & FHS students created intricately detailed plates to show their thanks. Both items were delivered at last night's meeting. Thank you Board members for your service!

Very excited to attend this training, and for @fpcsskovi to be a panelist later!
I had the privilege to be a panelist at Walsh University. It was an honor to learn at this P20 event and share our partnership with BWU. It was exiting to be able to highlight our teachers’ dedication to using data to make actionable decisions to improve every students’ learning.
Visualizing or creating mental images helps students have a deeper understanding of a text. Kindergartens were visualizing today and drawing their mental images of today’s poem. @FPSchools @fpcsmkrivak @FPCSDMaeder

Today at Gilles-Sweet Elementary, students observed Veterans Day by hosting Fairview Park American Legion 738 members. Students gathered for a flag-raising ceremony and learned about the two veterans the school is named after, Frederick A. Gilles and John H. Sweet. #WarriorPride

When teachers make their teaching and learning goals clear to their class, every activity has a purpose and every student understands what they’re doing.
Talk moves are great for all grade levels and can even been used at home! They teach students to have meaningful and productive discourse. It is important for students to be taught how to use these stems and provided opportunities to practice using them on a regular basis.
Agree or disagree – and why?
