This is a big turning point for AI regulation. The government is starting to deem some models too powerful for certain uses, which creates a precedent for a range of possible controls in the future. I’m in the camp that this is unnecessary and we should be primarily regulating the use of AI, as opposed to the underlying models. But, equally, there are plenty of people that actually prefer this outcome. Either way, it’s unlikely that we’re going back to a world where the government doesn’t have far more meaningful involvement in the rate of AI progress.
The US government, citing national security authorities, has issued an export control directive to suspend all access to Fable 5 and Mythos 5 by any foreign national, whether inside or outside the United States, including foreign national Anthropic employees. The net effect of this order is that we must abruptly disable Fable 5 and Mythos 5 for all our customers to ensure compliance. Access to all other Claude models is not affected. We apologize for this disruption to our customers. We believe this is a misunderstanding and are working to restore access as soon as possible. Read our full statement: anthropic.com/news/fable-myt…

A services-company CEO built a 13-week cash forecast in a weekend. Account by account, Monte Carlo, confidence intervals. No analytics team. No quarter-long project. The speed isn't the story. It's what stopped being necessary.

Honest: I don't know which specialist expertise translates into infrastructure and which doesn't. Some judgment feels structural. The peaceful era doesn't end on a date. It ends on a competitor with a loop-based OS pricing below yours for better work.

Question for any services company: What knowledge lives in someone's head, a Slack thread, a QA checklist, a client deck, an old readout? How do we make it available to every future loop? Companies that answer become learning machines.

The peaceful-era company asks, “How do we make the current process more efficient?” The chaotic-era company asks, “What parts of the process should stop existing, because the knowledge they protected can now live directly in the operating system?” That’s the shift I’d be making

7am Tuesday. Andrew, the CEO of the operations company we're forward-deployed with, is at his desk, running a forecast iteration on a cost model he wrote himself. By the time most of his team has logged on, he's already cycled through three or four iterations.

Daily integrations. Weekly wins. The graph thickens because the people who do the work are the ones writing what the agents read. The wins are weekly because the integrations are daily.
