If when you hear the word “repent,” you immediately think of others before you think of yourself, then you’ve got it exactly backwards.

More and more my advice to people is that they should take their spiritual life entirely offline. There is something fundamentally anti-silent about religious media today, something a thousand miles away from the desert. It’s an un-obvious darkness but a darkness just the same.

Maybe it’s just me, but as a Texas Tech alum, “Strive for honor evermore” means not allying oneself with racists.
Calling balls and strikes: This is a great message @bofrench.

Have heard from a few parish families whose kids opened this yesterday when they got home from school because it was addressed to “the students of.” Not good.
After digging into this for two days… I’m fairly certain this was done by Republicans in an effort to anger you enough to make you vote. Have we become so desperate to secure votes that we are willing to compromise our morals, values, and principles to get them? Children were sent materials explaining how to pursue emancipation from their parents and directing them to resources that could assist them with gender transitioning. We are talking about minors, including children who may already be struggling with questions about their identity, being given information about potentially life-altering decisions without their parents necessarily knowing. If anyone is willing to excuse this simply because they believe it might benefit their political side, we have a much bigger problem. Children are not political pawns. Their vulnerability should never be exploited for a vote. We cannot claim to care about protecting children while abandoning those principles whenever doing so becomes politically inconvenient. If winning requires us to compromise the very values we claim to defend, what exactly have we won? Nothing. I’m disgusted.

Got this in the mail today, addressed to “the students of the Whitfield family.” First thought was this is stupid timing; next thought was that this was a rightwing stunt. The content was outrageous. If my kids saw it, I’d be livid. Politics in Texas is embarrassing and shameful.
Texas transgender advocacy groups have denied sending out the material, leading many to believe they may be coming from someone hoping to stir up Republican voters, rather than offer aid to transgender youth as they purport to be doing. bit.ly/4sfV5g5

Yeah, heresy, racist, all that. However what exhausts me is that this is but an extreme example of what is true of so many evangelical pastors today; and that is, many of them are like that guy in the seminar who didn’t do the reading but who is too stupid to keep from talking.
Replying to @JoelWebbon
@JoelWebbon and @Wesley_Todd_ explain how the soul comes from God but also through the bodies of the mother and father, shaped by their "genetic particularities." Therefore, like physical features, the nature of soul and spirit is inherited through lineage, i.e. ethnicity.

I love football, watched it all my life, and obviously know nothing about it. But I’m just tired of all the talk about this Cowboys offense being great, or that they should be great, or most laughably of all, the greatest of all time. They’re just hard to watch, man.
