As quite often since first met a decade plus ago, Shmeckie has his finger on the pulse better than most of my For You page.

I think there's also the factor of limitation. We didn't have on demand. So if you wanted to watch TV or listen to the radio you had to search for something or just watch whatever is on which exposed us to a variety of shows/genres. This also leads to greater creativity.
Interesting take on why so much of Gen Z is unfamiliar with the pop culture that preceded them compared to millennials. I had a similar conclusion but had never heard it articulated

You can *feel* the optimism in the graphics, the aesthetics, the soundtrack, and most notably in the concept of connecting w/ online friends to play together. The future had arrived and all was well~
This is the most futuristic video game of all time

Doing an alt where I skip the cs, it's interesting to see where the game goes slower and faster on clearing MSQ objectives. In a way, it makes it apparent where the gameplay sections actually are when there's more time spent travelling with skipping cs all the time.

I'm liking Grim Dawn but you do notice how similar playing these isometric arpgs in the moment to moment gameplay. Fun, but I think I missed the trip to be into this genre for hundreds of hours of play when I was younger (where tbf, I played PSO instead), so just one playthrough.

The way it spiraled from “this is kinda true” to “you’re insulting this artist somehow” was interesting. I was reminded that you can be completely right but if people don’t want you to be right then they will come up with a way to say you’re wrong.

Playing an alt on FFXIV, going thru HW, I was curious how different the localization was. Apparently the HW translation cuts out the lines about lucia directly inviting Vidofnir to the city, which is why she was flying around later.. ff14.huijiwiki.com/wiki/任务:人与龙的再次对话

Even after you see the little girl saved & go talk to Vidofnir, she just says a single unmemorable line. In JP, she says she never expected to carry someone on her back again. Even reminisces about soaring thru the blue-cloud skies, little Ysayle on her back like it's yesterday.

You will never convince me cgi was an improvement on this. Hollywood simply got lazy and called it progress

*sigh* Fine I'll put my imput on this. Anakin is a villain-protagonist of classic tragedy, like MacBeth and Creon from Antigone. He starts off well-meaning but the point of his story is that fate turns against him and makes him descend into villainy. The very point is that both the Jedi AND the Sith are wrong. Luke actually defies Yoda and Obi-Wan in ROTJ because they believed Vader irredeemable, and Luke turns out right. Lucas was also trying to make this point in the Prequels: Anakin is someone capable of redemption. It's why he's at first portrayed as a well-meaning young man who corrupts into something evil. The prequels are thus inherently tragedy. Heroes lose, and heroes corrupt, while evil prevails. It was the natural storytelling answer to telling how the Empire could rise. Why does this happen? Because the institution of the Jedi corrupted (Yoda points this out in AOTC) and led someone like Anakin astray, while the corrupting force swooped in as a phantom to turn the Chosen One to evil. Palpatine IS a villain; but the Jedi are not faultless. Even Obi-Wan points out, "I have failed you" to Anakin. He is remorseful. It takes the reforms of Luke Skywalker to change Anakin. The Jedi turned cold and distant to the galaxy's problems which led to their fall, and thus Luke only really wins when he actually shows genuine love for his father. Really, the prequels are a lesson on how turning one's eyes to corruption leads to evil. Anakin is the physical embodiment of this lesson, as when he corrupts, so does the Republic which then turns into the Empire. And that's what makes it a good tragedy. However, Anakin is indeed the villain one should avoid becoming, and why the prequels resonate with me. It's why his redemption is so important. He gets the ending he deserved.

That jerzzy p type Mal0 looks like ass, and not the good kind. Mal0 really really doesn't work with the black Toriel cloak/bodytype combo. Hope it doesn't become a trend.

Oh It would be great. I just cannot ever imagine a world where they would greenlight a game that would require 90% of the NPCs to be not human or human-adjacent. That would be hard sell for the executives for sure lmfao.
