Angel Reese’s streak of eight consecutive games scoring in double figures came to an end yesterday, but if her 2026 regular season is any indication, the third-year forward has shown she knows how to respond after a single-digit scoring performance.
In four games following an outing in which she scored fewer than 10 points, Reese averaged (18.0) points, (12.5) rebounds, and (3.5) assists.
One of those performances came against Dallas, when she finished with 22 points, 12 rebounds, and 4 assists in an 82-81 win after scoring just 8 points in her previous game. She also recorded 20 points and 14 rebounds in just 28 minutes against Toronto after being held to 7 points against Washington.
Reese finished yesterday’s Game 4 loss with 8 points on 2-for-12 shooting. It was an off night for a player who had been playing extremely well in the playoffs. And while Golden State deserves credit for its defense, five of Reese’s 10 missed shots came on open looks. Another came on a play where she appeared to be held while going up for a shot, but no foul was called.
Reese acknowledged after the game that performances like these happen, and she's right. There are plenty of examples of star players struggling offensively in the playoffs. One poor shooting night doesn't erase what a player has done throughout a series.
But Game 4 also showed just how important Reese has become to Atlanta's success. Rhyne Howard scored just 5 points in Game 2, and Atlanta won by 14. Allisha Gray scored 8 points in Game 3, and Atlanta won by 26. Reese scored 8 points in Game 4, and Atlanta lost by 5.
A strong response from Reese in Game 5 could go a long way toward putting Atlanta one win away from its first WNBA championship. 🪄

Lakers have the best backcourt in the league, and look out because they are running actions together way more than they ever have.
