I won 1st place at the BLR GenAI Filmmaking Hackathon on 7th March, and honestly I’m still processing it.
12 hours, a room full of insanely talented creators, and one idea that kept evolving with every iteration. Watching everyone push the boundaries of AI storytelling was inspiring in itself.
Really grateful to @cinic_ai, @residencyBLR, @morphic, and @WLDD_IN for putting together such an incredible event.
Huge shoutout to @prithvireddy_dr and team @cinic_ai for starting this.
One small moment that really hit me emotionally was seeing “A Film by Arjun Doolla” on the screen behind me. It felt surreal. Somehow all the photos I got from the event have that exact frame in the background, which made the moment even more special.
More than the win, I’m just grateful I got to be in that room with so many brilliant people experimenting with the future of filmmaking. I met a lot of amazing people and a few exciting opportunities came out of it.
I’ll be sharing more about the projects soon, and I’d love to bring some of you along for the journey.

There are NOT enough AI filmmakers, partly because being really good at editing, cinematography, AND actual AI skills is a LOT to master. The very best AI filmmakers are very rare.
There are 6 entities that are hunting for them, causing a squeeze in the job market:
> Big studios - want to hire AI filmmakers for experimental and research projects
> AI studios - they’re experiencing demand for their own projects and clients and need AI filmmakers to train and work on those projects
> AI tool companies - want to hire AI creative directors and filmmakers to showcase their tools
> AI streamers - who want to fill up their catalog with AI content
> Ad Agencies - nobody cares if an ad is made with AI. Agencies are training up their own people to do AI to cost save on ads and…
> Brands - are demanding quicker, cheaper, and more variety and since it’s so easy, they’re also hiring to tinker and even shorten feedback timelines
While one side of the creative industry is losing jobs, demand in this industry is exploding and not abating. AI skills are very easy to learn but VERY hard to master.

Just watched this AI-generated short film and yeah… anyone still saying AI can’t create something watchable is seriously behind.
This isn’t “AI makes trash” anymore, this is real storytelling, and real potential.
The people actually using these tools already know: AI isn’t replacing creativity, it’s leveling it up. Studios aren’t ignoring it – they’re evolving with it.
