We're overturning ~200 years of history by shedding cast iron from our piano. Turns out Alpheus Babcock, a Boston piano maker, patented his cast iron string frame in 1825. Cast iron's been used in all mainstream pianos since.
Bring on modern materials!

Another favourite photo of our extremely exciting piano build: the bridge construction. There's so much craftmanship (esp with David Klavins!) that goes into a piano. We're lucky to be combining trad skills w the latest #materials & #innovation. @KlavinsPianos
Our founder @sarahpiano on @bbcglos today talking about the #piano, Women in Innovation, her @innovateuk #WomenInnovate award and how women are currently under-represented in #innovation and #business. Only 8% of patents have women named on them; Sarah is in that group!
Just had a lovely interview w @kitchtweet @BBCGlos re my @innovateuk #WomenInnovate award for @futurepianoltd. Listen to 20/3/23 prog at 1hr10' tinyurl.com/bdcvafj7 An excerpt below, filmed at home. Any SW schools who'd like me for female business inspiration, pls get in touch

This is my favourite photo of the beautiful #StandingGrand piano that brilliant, talented & pioneering @KlavinsPianos is currently building for us @futurepianoltd. Stunning craftsmanship alongside innovative engineering; lustrous wood patterns next to shiny carbon fibre. #piano
We saw @houghhough in a brilliantly evocative recital @Sage_Gateshead recently. Hall 1 has an incredible acoustic and Stephen maximised the dynamic possibilities. Starting w Mompou was immediately immersive. Beautiful.
ENOUGH waiting. My new book is out today. amazon.co.uk/Enough-Sir-Step… And in @guardian today, some snippets theguardian.com/music/2023/f… @FaberBooks
And in contrast, a #StandingGrand #piano floor pattern will show you how much space you can save... ;)

Huge congratulations to @hauschkamusic #VolkerBertelmann for winning the Original Score category of the @TheAcademy #Oscars2023 ! Volker is an incredible musician and supporter of musicians, an #insideoutpiano advocate and a lovely man. Well deserved!
An impromptu visit today to @besbrodepianos in #Leeds for some #piano #design inspiration. Look at these incredible variations! #Materials including aluminium, formica. One designed to look like a radio.

Thanks, Sam! I'd add @KlavinsPianos for sure. And my engineering collaborators, for being open enough to let me use their advanced strut in a piano - Jigsaw Structures. See @futurepianoltd for what we're engineering :)

A personal favourite innovation @futurepianoltd has reached their kickstarter target. Well done @sarahpiano. Sound of a grand piano footprint of an upright and only 82kg. @eltonofficial @johnlegend great product to get behind to support budding pianists. #piano #womeninnovate
