Last year, a majority of tutors at the University of California signed up as dues-paying members of UAW 4811. Last semester, thousands of us picketed across the state for a strong contract. Yesterday, I got an $8/hour raise. That's the power of a union. #uaw #1u

If this idiot had his way, postdocs would still be making $18k a year (like many did at UC before the postdocs won their first union!) while him and his friends worked them 80 hours a week, dangled their visas and career prospects over their head, and stole all the credit.
Opinion | Postdocs Aren’t Burger Flippers: Why Unionization Is a Bad Idea Unionization disrupts the bespoke mentor-mentee relationships that are central to the advancement of science. By Evan D. Morris: bit.ly/3UZ6KTO

70% of faculty at the University of Southern California voted to form a union for better wages and benefits. Instead of recognizing the union, USC is working overtime to deny their right to a union. That is beyond unacceptable. USC must drop its appeal & bargain in good faith.

That vanilla ice cream is its own unique flavor and in fact has a much more complex profile than nearly all other flavors when done correctly.
What’s the harshest truth every young man must eventually learn?

Across America, science and math research is being slashed by the Trump administration. As a University of California alum, I support SB 895 to counter this, funding science research across California institutions. See link below (link not in OP to avoid annoying deboosting).

"The ASUC has two paths forward. It may be a junior partner in administering UC Berkeley without meaningful decision-making power, or it may reclaim its historical role as a politically relevant actor on campus."

Increasingly, mainstream Democrats have sought to carve out a space for “acceptable” Zionism by saying that they support Israel but oppose Bibi Netanyahu. But the horrors of Gaza are a result of processes far more vast than one right-wing leader. jacobin.com/2025/08/democrat…

Somewhat embarrassing that James Chang, the President of SEIU 1021 Berkeley, did not secure SEIU 1021's endorsement in this race
I am beyond honored to be the sole candidate endorsed by the Service Employees International Union 1021 for City Council District 7, representing over a third of the city’s workforce. I look forward to working with SEIU 1021 to ensure better workers’ protections in Berkeley.🌹🤝
