A Japanese Catholic has created a remarkable interactive map of Catholic parishes throughout Japan. From Hokkaido to Okinawa, hundreds of churches are marked on the map. What an extraordinary undertaking, and what a valuable resource for anyone interested in the Catholic Church in Japan. Thank you, @y_kohaku_a, for sharing your work!

The Nine Christian Martyrs Who Lost Their Lives in the Jordan Church Attack Nine Jordanian Christians were martyred in a deadly terrorist attack on St. George’s Greek Orthodox Church in the village of Hamoud, Karak Governorate, on Friday, October 23, 2026. Deep in the woods near Bellevue, Ohio, is one of the most beautiful and peaceful Catholic pilgrimage sites I’ve visited: the Sorrowful Mother Shrine. Founded in 1850 by Father Francis de Sales Brunner, a missionary of the Precious Blood, this remarkable Marian shrine has been drawing pilgrims for more than 175 years. But what makes this place so extraordinary is what lies beyond the chapel. Spread across 120 acres of beautiful woodland are 41 grottos and religious shrines, connected by winding pathways beneath a canopy of towering trees. Walking these trails, especially with the magnificent colors of autumn all around, is an experience in itself. Every turn seems to reveal another little sanctuary hidden among the trees. A statue of Our Lady. A grotto dedicated to a beloved saint. A crucifix standing silently in the forest. A place to kneel, pray, and contemplate the mysteries of our Catholic faith. There are grottos honoring Our Lady of Lourdes, St. Joseph, St. Padre Pio, St. Michael the Archangel, and many others. There are Stations of the Cross, a replica of the Holy Sepulcher, and beautiful representations of Our Lord's Passion. What I loved most was how naturally everything belonged in its surroundings. The grottos aren't separated from the woods. They're nestled within them, almost as though they've been waiting there for centuries. There is something so Catholic about a place like this. The beauty of creation, the communion of saints, the mysteries of our redemption, and the tender presence of the Mother of Sorrows all come together in one extraordinary landscape. If you love visiting Catholic shrines, put this one on your list. It is a hidden treasure of Ohio and a beautiful reminder that some of the finest sanctuaries aren't enclosed by walls. Our Lady of Sorrows, pray for us. ❤️

Abortion is not health care. Abortion is a devastating loss of life. A death sentence. Pronounced by a desperate or dismissive mother. Carried out by a diabolical physician and industry capitalizing on darkness. It is not something to be protected and promoted. – at Cresson, PA

No photograph of St. Charbel was ever taken during his lifetime. The holy hermit, who died on Christmas Eve in 1898, lived in deep seclusion at the Hermitage of St. Peter and St. Paul in Annaya, Mount Lebanon. Only his fellow monks ever saw his face. More than 50 years later, on May 8, 1950, coincidentally the saint’s birthday.... four Maronite priests from Scranton, Pennsylvania, made a pilgrimage to the Monastery of St. Maroun in Annaya. Father George Webby took a photo of the group standing with a guard outside the monastery. When the film was developed, an unexpected figure appeared in the middle of the picture: an elderly monk with a white beard. Father Webby immediately showed the photograph to the elderly monks at the monastery. Without hesitation, they identified the man as St. Charbel. That image became the basis for every portrait and photo of the saint that followed, including those displayed in St. Peter’s Basilica during his beatification and canonization. The mysterious appearance remains one of the most well-known signs associated with the humble Lebanese hermit whose intercession continues to bring healing to many. Saint Charbel, pray for us!
