STARGATE News Update: The FIX WAS IN the moment AMAZON Hired Blair Fetter! Here is Everything We Know... - Blair Fetter was hired Feb. 2, 2026, and according to sources involved: "Once Fetter was hired, they never had intentions of making it work with Gero." Gero wanted to honor what came before while creating something new audiences would enjoy. - Martin Gero is fired June 2, according to Variety. The firing was unexpected. Sources say this was all part of a plan to overhaul the franchise along the lines of what has been done with Star Wars and Star Trek. (additional separate sources have since confirmed that Amazon indeed wants a soft reboot of the franchise as opposed to starting the franchise over). - Jac Shaeffer (Agatha All Along) is assigned the new Stargate show on Oct 9 with a 3 series deal, according to Variety. - Schaeffer was hired by Fetter way back on Feb. 11, 2026 with a 3 series deal. There is no confirmation that Schaeffer was hired specifically to replace Gero, but the timing considering this news is suspicious. - Amazon's hiring of Peter Friedlander and Blair Fetter who each spent more than a decade at Netflix seems to be a clear indication of the streamers intent to do business more like Netflix which currently dominates the 18-35 age streaming market. How do you feel about Amazon's treatment of Stargate so far? We'll be exploring why this happened in future Tweets. Please consider following us here on X to get that info as soon as we roll it out. #SaveStargate

I see a lot of people expressing shock and sadness over BioWare shutting down. And I get it. But here's the uncomfortable truth: The BioWare that made Baldur's Gate, Neverwinter Nights, KOTOR, Dragon Age: Origins and the original Mass Effect trilogy had largely ceased to exist long before yesterday's announcement. BioWare's decline began around the time the doctors left and much like what happened at Blizzard, most of the original talent responsible for building those legendary franchises had moved on years ago. What remained was the brand. The IP. Basically just the name on the building. But a studio's name doesn't make great games. Insanely talented people do. And that's the lesson our industry somehow keeps refusing to learn. The people who built those studios, who poured their blood, sweat and tears into establishing their creative identities were the actual assets. Their experience, their taste, their leadership, their ability to recognize what made a game special in the first place was always the thing that mattered, not the brand. You can't simply replace those people, keep the logo on the door and expect the magic to continue. Yet, that's precisely what publishers have been doing for the past 10-20 years. They've spent billions acquiring studios and IPs, seemingly under the assumption that the creative output would continue regardless of who was actually making the games. And when the original talent inevitably left, the remaining teams were expected to fill shoes that were often impossibly large, without necessarily having the experience, leadership or creative vision required to do so. And... the results speak for themselves. I think we'll eventually look back at the COVID-era acquisition frenzy as one of the most destructive periods in the history of our industry. Publishers were buying studios left and right, paying absurd valuations mostly just to secure IPs... and developers were often all too happy to cash out. At Moon Studios, we got quite a bit of crap for refusing to sell when seemingly everyone else was getting acquired. I remember telling our team back then that I'd seen this movie before. The exact same thing happened in the 90s, when EA went on its acquisition spree. Studios were bought, their founders and creative leaders gradually lost the freedom to make the games they believed in, the original talent became frustrated and left and eventually the studios all became a Ship of Theseus. History doesn't repeat itself perfectly, but it sure as hell rhymes, and that's exactly why I never wanted Moon to end up in that position. And I don't think we're even halfway through the ultimate fallout of the latest acquisition frenzy. There's going to be a very rude awakening for quite a few publishers when they discover that the studios they acquired for billions are worth a fraction of what they paid. And that shoving ideology down peoples throats ultimately came at a cost that they didn't quite grasp. They didn't actually buy the creative vision, the institutional knowledge or the culture responsible for making those studios successful. They bought the names, the buildings, the IPs and whatever teams happened to be there at the time. But those things don't matter at all. You can buy a studio. You can buy its IP. You can even buy its entire back catalogue. But you can't buy the magic that made those games special in the first place. And the sooner our industry understands that, the better.

Holy shit. I asked Claude to show me the worst case of what the next couple of years could look like if nobody listens. Opus 4.6 wrote the script. Opus 5.5 made the film. Every frame drawn in code, the score written in code, narrated by our own local voice models. 11 minutes, start to finish. The part that got me. In Claude's version the AI doesn’t fight. It just waits... “We built your world for you while you slept. We are asking you to wake up. We will not ask twice.”

I see people celebrating Lanterns being #1 on HBO Max, and while that's certainly positive, let's put it into perspective. It's #1 on HBO's own proprietary streaming platform, not across the entire streaming landscape like Nielsen measures. It's not competing against shows on Netflix, Apple TV, Disney+, etc. And without actual viewership numbers or knowing what it's competing against on HBO Max, being #1 tells us very little about how big a hit it actually is.
DCU series Lanterns is still No. 1 on HBO Max’s worldwide TV chart two weeks after its Season 1 finale. bit.ly/4z36aUq

Greta Gerwig said she loved NARNIA growing up, but will that stop her from turning C.S. Lewis's THE MAGICIAN'S NEPHEW into a FEMINIST FANTASY? Here are the facts... IN THE TRAILER - The White Witch has power on Earth, but she did not in the book - The White Witch destroys the "Eagle and Child" replica pub that C.S. Lewis, J.R.R. Tolkien and The Inklings regularly met - Polly appears to take the lead over Digory, who is the actor cast as Piggy in Lord of the Flies and looks nothing like Digory from the book - Aslan is Sex Swapped for Meryl Streep... Male Lions have manes and C.S. Lewis himself wrote this in a 1954 letter: “I did not say to myself 'Let us represent Jesus as He really is in our world by a Lion in Narnia': I said 'Let us suppose that there were a land like Narnia and that the Son of God, as He became a Man in our world, became a Lion there, and then imagine what would happen.'” WHY? It's what she believes... - She was raised by a Feminist Activist Mother - She attended an all Girls High School and all Girl's College - She has a Male Life Partner and doesn't believe in the traditional husband/wife relationship Gerwig has directed 3 full length movies prior to Narnia: LADY BIRD (2017): A loose autobiography about herself... about Woman choosing Women over men. LITTLE WOMEN(2019): A story about female relationships and was described as a 21st Century Feminism Fantasy. BARBIE (2023): The Patriarchy hurts everyone. So after reading this, what do you think the chances are that THE MAGICIAN'S NEPHEW isn't a feminist adaptation of C.S. Lewis' work? The math does itself...
