Two years ago today, Roe v. Wade was overturned and my daughters' generation lost a fundamental right that I grew up with. I recently talked with my daughter, Phoebe, about the importance of reproductive freedom and why this year’s election is so critical.

I’ve never endorsed a presidential candidate before. But this year’s election stands to be so enormously consequential for women and families that, this time, I can’t stay quiet.
Women deserve a leader who cares about the issues they face and is committed to protecting their safety, their health, their economic power, their reproductive rights, and their ability to freely and fully participate in a functioning democracy. In this election, the contrast couldn’t be greater, and the stakes couldn’t be higher.
I will be voting for President Biden.

What happens when Doughnut Economics meets Braiding Sweetgrass? It was a big honour & pleasure to meet Robin Wall Kimmerer @hayfestival this weekend - with luck this was the 1st of many conversations that we'll have together about embedded new economic thinking in living systems.

For decades, I’ve watched women and girls fight to get on the global agenda. It’s time women and girls set that agenda themselves.
I’m committing an additional $1 billion by 2026 to people and organizations working to advance women’s power globally. Here are some of the places those resources will go:
ALT Committing an additional $1 Billion through 2026 to advance women's power globally.
ALT $250 million to be awarded through an open call, launching later this fall, with Lever for Change to identify organizations working to improve women’s mental and physical health worldwide.
ALT $240 million devoted to partnerships with a diverse group of 12 global leaders. Each leader will be provided with a $20 million fund to distribute to charitable organizations they consider to be doing urgent, impactful, and innovative work to improve women’s health and well-being in the U.S. and around the world.
ALT $200 million in grants aimed at supercharging the work of organizations that are fighting in the U.S. to advance women’s power and protect their rights.

71% of Americans approve of unions. So why do nearly all Republican lawmakers in Congress oppose proposals that would make it easier to unionize?
It’s simple: they’re terrified.
Nothing scares the GOP more than working people recognizing their collective power.

As we near a possible government shutdown, remember that one of the biggest deficit drivers of the past 20 years are GOP tax cuts for the wealthy & corporations. The issue isn't programs that help millions of Americans, it's giveaways to the rich.

The fire risk and traffic jams currently affecting Latah Valley residents must be addressed before adding more traffic and residents.
ICYMI: Check out the joint statement with @lisabrown4mayor and @VoteBWilkerson calling for a pause on new residential development in Latah Valley until the necessary public safety facilities can be planned for and funded.
