We’ve reached a place where the King of Jordan shows more genuine solidarity with and concern for the Christians of his country than the President of France shows for his.

British Fascism was a product of the British left. Sir Oswald Mosley was a former Labour minister and member of the Fabian Society. It seems that history is now repeating itself, complete with the resurgence of left wing antisemitism. Perhaps, Sir Sadiq, your moment in history has arrived!
90 years ago today, Oswald Mosley and his Blackshirts attempted to march through and intimidate a predominantly Jewish area of the East End. Men, women and children, alongside local residents, trade unionists and anti-fascist protesters, came together to defend the community in what became known as the Battle of Cable Street. They taught us an important lesson: communities can resist fascism by joining together. Hate and antisemitism had no place in London then, and it has no place here now.

Party spokeswoman says if Jewish safety amendment is voted down ‘it does not mean the Green Party is going to persecute Jewish members for attending synagogues’

There used to be an easy way of resolving the matter of honouring multiple saints on the same day…
The @USCCB now faces an issue that 2 of the most popular optional memorials will be on December 9: St. Juan Diego & Bl/St (soon) Fulton J. Sheen. We should work out a way to be able to celebrate both.

Quite the rebuke of a number of forms of secularism, which seem indistinguishable from government over-reach and State monopoly on conscience.
‘A just secularism therefore does not consist in excluding religion from the public sphere or from education, but in committing to ensuring that the State and religious institutions dialogue with one another and join their forces in the service of the common good.’

Attitudes like this are one of the reasons these crimes took 10 years to be taken seriously. They are also a reason why the disgusting evils being committed against girls today may well not come to light any time soon.

Rory Stewart explains why he believes there are more important issues facing Britain than gangs of 'predominantly Pakistani Muslim men' grooming women and girls. 1/10 This is a curious move. There is a strong case for changing a law which singles out Catholics and Jews for exclusion. In a country where Christianity itself is now a minority faith, that discrimination is difficult to defend.

9/10 Yet when his Catholicism apparently places its first concrete limit upon what he may do, his immediate response is not to accept that boundary but to legislate so that his faith no longer impinges upon his freedom of action.

10/10 Repealing discrimination against Catholics and Jews is good. but the cleaner reform would be to reserve this function to communicant Anglicans and provide automatic delegation in every other case.
