In 2016, r/MemeEconomy started treating memes like stocks.
A small team built an actual exchange for it: NASDANQ. Virtual currency, firms, listings, prices scraped from X, Reddit and Facebook.
The Verge, CNET and Forbes covered it.
The name was Nasdaq plus dank, and Nasdaq's lawyers didn't like it so the project got squeezed offline.
Now the original builder, @DanqDev, is back and attached to the token, posting lore clips and running comms himself.
They built a fake Nasdaq for memes in 2016. The real Nasdaq shut it down, now we have it back again but in a permissionless financial economy the blockchain
The catalyst: V1 to V2 migration
Holders deposit V1 and get V2 1:1. Mapping was targeted for late September 2026. Handling has shifted toward @MigrateFun inside the Pons family, with a late-migration grace window they floated at 90 days.
A longer window means fewer people get wrecked by a missed deadline.
Two things to watch:
Float shrink : Anyone who misses migration is stuck holding V1, Past Pons migrations saw real non-participation, and even 10 to 20% changes the float if V2 becomes the only liquid version
The $QQQ fee loop : After V2, creator fees r buy $QQQ and airdrop it to holders, the joke Nasdaq tried to bury now pays holders through something Nasdaq-adjacent.
When it ships and shows up in wallets, this trades as lore plus yield instead of just lore.
Why attention can grow
The mcap is insanely undervalued compared to the size of the story.
