In case you missed our recent work in @NatureChemistry, it's still time to catch up.
We developed ways to create increase porosity in #MOFs by removing construction elements. It resulted in exceptional pore volumes & methane storage performances.
Proud of the @Eddaoudi_FMD3 crew!
KAUST researchers have developed a new way to engineer porous materials for enhanced gas storage and processing.
The method creates larger and more efficient pores, achieving one of the highest methane storage capacities reported for this class of materials.

SCAFFOLD REMOVAL.๐
In the past years we developed a #MOFs synthetic approach inspired by #architecture, adapted and applied to the molecular scale.
We've been asked since then if these molecular scaffolds are removable.
Yes, they are! fresh off the press in @NatureChemistry
With @Eddaoudi_FMD3 we did not developed one, but two complementary routes to free up space in #MOFs.
Acid washing or imidazole substitution happen in a single crystal to single crystal way, leading to porosity increase up to 50%.

I finished last week with a beautiful paper accepted & started this one with an even more beautiful paper rejectedโฆ
Iโve put my heart in both, and I feel sorry for those who made the lab work but didnโt get the reward we hoped for. Weโll revise, improve, submit elsewhere. #MOFs
MOFES'26 ๐๐ฎ๐ณ
Being back to India after 20 years also came with a wonderful #MOFES conference. Great talks, smooth organization (@Maji_TK, @jncasr), friends from overseas, peaceful campus, spicy food, fresh juices and crazy traffic.
Thanks #IncredibleIndia for having me!

SPECIAL ISSUE.
Since our review first went online for a special issue (unofficially) dedicated to his 60th birthday, Omar Yaghi not only turned 60 but also received the 2025 #NobelPrize in #Chemistry for the development of #MOFs.
Happy to see my artwork illustrating the issue!
Thanks to @Eddaoudi_FMD3, Dalal Alezi, @HaoJiang15 and @Norahalsadun for being part of it!
We give away all our #design secrets, with illustrated examples, from simple to intricate cases!
And itโs free!
๐check it out & share with students/colleagues๐

Have you ever struggled making stable, crystalline Cr-MOFs?๐
Even by transmetalating Fe-MOFs?
I did. Many did!
With @Eddaoudi_FMD3, we developed a new route to single crystalline Cr-MOFs from In and Co parents #MOFs.

I saw many posts about the @nature #MOFs papers selection to celebrate the #NobelPrize in Chemistry, so I checked it out too.
It turns out they highlight one of our papers I'm the most proud of, designing zeolite-like MOFs!๐

So the year was this year. ๐#nobelprize2025 #MOFs
Amazed by the beauty of MOFs and their promises. Each of the awardees has a work that was inspirational at some point in my research journey.
BREAKING NEWS
The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences has decided to award the 2025 #NobelPrize in Chemistry to Susumu Kitagawa, Richard Robson and Omar M. Yaghi โfor the development of metalโorganic frameworks.โ
I was very excited by the upcoming @euromof2025 lineup.๐
A talk the same day as my 3 mentors, @MOF_IMAP, @Eddaoudi_FMD3 & @WeAreNanoUp, plus a great session with @KEndoChem, @JoseGiner10, @chem571, @ZhijieChen89!
Unfortunately I won't be able to make it. Have a great one!

What if complexity was already built in โ just waiting to be released?
In our latest @ScienceMagazine, we show how COFs can selectively excise organic macrocycles with precision.
A chemistry that reveals whatโs already there. Clip-off Chemistry.

BACK TO BASICS... with a fresh twist!
Last time I presented my work in France was... for my PhD defense, almost 15 years ago.
It was so nice getting the chance to show what we developed since then at #frenchMOFs, with half of my defence jury & some former colleagues around!

MOPs WITH A GECKO'S GRIP.๐๐ฆ
I got the chance to write a News&Views in @NatureChemistry about a paper I enjoyed by @FurukawaG_Kyoto.
They made cool MOPs (that's not new) that pack in a diamond fashion the same way geckos climb walls (that's super cool)!๐
