London is the richest city in terms of assets and second perhaps after New York for new money. To set goals at London level to a third-world city which has degraded from British built stds 100 years ago is bit too much.
People settling for ugly houses and craving Lidl for that is all they can afford is a sign of the degradation of Britain. As advanced economies move to the world of plenty - people should deserve life with finesse and style.

I am fundamentally a pro nimby. Anti ugly modern housing developments and cheaper super-markets.
I am pro doubling or even tripling minimum wage. Make minimum wage 50£ per hour - so they can have a decent living with flair.
Send them a soft signal that Muslims are being removed from the voter list. Against that peculiar weird joy - they will defend their daughter’s rape as to why it was essential and cultural. Discrimination was the foundation for their education and jobs- without it they were zero.

Need for precision, Cost and maintenance increase exponentially to cover every muddy corners. Add to the procurement and labour - double that with corruption overheads- basically you can’t afford it yet.
I’ve said it a hundred times - the biggest reason why Indian cities look so bad at ground level is an absence of proper pavements.

After a few weeks in Europe or the states, the first thing I do is to run to my local pub- you start missing it dearly. Much of the prejudice stems from touristy London eat-outs who basically scam tourists
Btw English food is not awful. I would argue it is one of the best in the world.
Go to a country pub- try a steak pie/cottage pie, bangers and mash with a simple shandy. You will know you are in heaven.
