Hearing a story like this was always the best, most treasured part of the job.
It’s also the other side of Roy Kent’s Trent Crimm scene in Ted Lasso, which was just as real
Thanks Mrs Donaldson 🫶🏻
Go the Wallabies 👊🏻
This is great. Ben Donaldson's late grandmother carried around a yarn that @geerob wrote about her grandson and would show everyone 🥹

Congrats to all those named in @wallabies #RWC2023 squad. Especially big Willy Skelton as skipper!
Spare a thought for those that missed out - it’s never a nice phone call to receive one I received twice! There will be better days ahead and new opportunities will come!

No Quade Cooper. No Michael Hooper. No Len Ikitau.
Max Jorgensen BOLTER.
And Wallabies captain Will Skelton.
Wild stuff.

Congratulations to Will Skelton; the first Auckland-born, French-based, former Wentworthville Magpies league junior, non lineout-jumping lock to captain the Wallabies at a World Cup

It bloody sucked getting dropped right before a World Cup.
Thinking of all the players who missed out whether it be form or injury.

Gun No.13 Len Ikitau has missed out. Injured shoulder vs Pumas and Wallabies hoped he'd be right for 1st match of RWC

Every angle of Mary Fowler's ball to Caitlin Foord? Say no more 🤷♀️
It's a contender for assist of the tournament, time and time again.

Wallabies have confirmed Len Ikitau has a fractured scapula. Recovery time of 6-8 weeks.
Australia's first RWC game is 9 September v Georgia and Aus v Fiji is September 17.
Ikitau so important to Wallabies you'd imagine he'll still be in the squad.
What’s left after the disappointment dissipates:
- There is a spark there that might combust when support and breakdown sharpen up
- They keep fighting
- Filthy captain.. I’m here for candour
- The sight of an Angus Bell carry
- Nawaqanitawase

Pumas 34 Wallabies 31.
Australia is no chance at the World Cup playing like this. Getting beaten physically, discipline atrocious, poor decision making at key moments, and vulnerable defence. Eddie’s going to need a whole box of replacement headphones
