Yesterday, I announced this will be my last season watching the NFL. It’s not just the gambling commercials, Jason Kelce, and the international slopification of the sport. The game isn’t the same. It’s not close to what made it great. The referees control the game with calls and no-calls, just like the NBA. There is no flow to a game. The natural energy is gone because almost every play is flagged and/or reviewed. It feels like I spend 3 hours of my life watching 10 minutes of action that is open to subjective interpretations by officials. It’s really simple; I am no longer entertained, I am annoyed. The NFL won’t miss me but I won’t miss them either.

Ah yes, the NFL once again heroically protecting the fragile feelings of professional football players. Cam “Scattaboo” Skattebo committed the unforgivable crime of… running the football hard and lowering his helmet while trucking a defender. The refs immediately threw the flag for “unnecessary roughness” because apparently delivering a hit as a ball carrier is now a personal foul. Next week they’ll fine him for breathing too aggressively or existing with intent. This is not the NFL you grew up watching.
