Emerging from my cave to make a PSA: be careful of hackers impersonating as your friends on social media. A close friend’s @instagram account was compromised and I fell victim to a scam. Remember to verify their identities on a different platform before transferring any money.

3.30am and another error code for #AAS2022. Really wish I could be in Hawaii right now.
So I tried presenting my research in Japanese for the first time in forever and it went pretty well! I’m glad to have had the opportunity to do so thanks to all the wonderful people at this year’s Japanese Research Showcase @HistWorkshop @SayakaChatani @IN_Japanologie @ElinorGong

Am I the only one who freezes for a second whenever someone asks if I’m a student?

I just showed my grandma Rupaul’s Drag Race hoping to start a conversation about LGBTQ+ visibility but it turns out that I have a granduncle (whom I never knew existed because he died so young) who was a drag queen. FAMILY HISTORY TIME.
That said, the family would occasionally get concerned/gossipy neighbors and friends claiming that they saw her engaging in “变态” (perverse) behavior (i.e. cross-dressing or entertaining male customers).
