this is the reality of LLMs "replacing engineers" - they're just enabling the tailor made software for one to a few people that no engineer was ever going to build any way.
less platforms, more personal software. it doesn't have to be good or scalable, it just has to solve the problems of a few people and it is "worth it"
i still use my homemade '1/8th sleep' which consists of a small fish tank cooler + mattress overlay
aside from not needing a subscription (or $4,000) to sleep, i can also lower the temp further than an eight sleep
my personal health software uses the oura ring api and integrates it with all my other data sources (apple health, exercise, food, blood tests, self-reports on how i feel, etc) and allows me to run stats or perform future experiments on any sets of variables
the true hero here is claude since without them it would have been far too much software to write just for my own usage. it still impresses me how far you can get prototyping software for yourself in just an hour or two
