Curating is about staying curious - and watching and listening. Those who create exhibitions and mediate art are constantly confronted with new perspectives, techniques, issues and questions. They are constantly learning along the way. Although curating is often thought of as simply selecting or arranging artworks, it is a far more complex process that challenges and enriches not only the audience but also the curators themselves. Engaging with artists and their ideas often becomes a learning experience. Artworks don't just tell stories - they raise questions. Trying to understand and highlight these questions opens up new spaces of thought every time. Especially when working with positions that seem unfamiliar or initially difficult to grasp, one enters into dialogue with different viewpoints, experiences and lived realities. The art world is currently undergoing radical change: Digital art forms are booming, traditional museums are questioning their role and artists are increasingly present not only in galleries but also in social media, virtual spaces and communities. In this new reality, it is not enough to simply select and present artworks. Especially in the world of digital art, critical reflection in curating is essential. Unfortunately, the term 'curator' is often used too loosely, leading many so-called curators to function primarily as vendors, promoting works that appear financially lucrative. As a result, deeper and more significant artworks often remain unseen - which explains why many digital artists approach the concept of curating with scepticism. Exhibitions should contextualise, elucidate and critically examine works rather than superficially market them. The challenge is to mediate between profound artistic concepts and pure market logic. For me, curating also constantly transforms me into a learner: critically reflecting on my assumptions and constantly questioning what should be exhibited or left out. This process makes it clear that curating isn't about providing definitive answers, but about creating spaces for dialogue and exchange. Today's curators are responsible for visibility, diversity, accessibility and education. Every exhibition or collection is an invitation to learn, discover and reflect. It's crucial to engage people with no prior knowledge or specific interest in art (or technology) as effectively as experts. Curators now have to explain, communicate, build bridges and occasionally provoke discomfort. In curating, the encounter between audience and art often unfolds differently than expected. Visitors bring their thoughts, questions and emotions, reacting unpredictably or critiquing aspects you may not have considered. These moments reveal how alive and unfinished curatorial practice really is - and how valuable mutual learning can be. In addition to institutional curating, managing private art collections also plays a significant role. Personally, I find curating digital art collections even more challenging than physical ones. Perhaps I'll write another text specifically on how to build, maintain and preserve collections in the digital world. In the end, we may need to rethink our attitude to the term "curation" itself, because it is not about being a gatekeeper or a salesman. It's about listening, learning and making a statement. That's how art stays alive and relevant - and how art and society truly connect.
