Now GitButler has a CLI! Stacked and parallel branches, smartlog, simple commit editing, easy undo, json output to every command. And it just works in any Git repo. Check it out: blog.gitbutler.com/but-cli

not every task needs full worktree isolation and for those, parallel branches ans stacks are just faster. ofc sometimes you do need worktree separation. stay tuned - we have some cool stuff cooking

docs for what Scott is showing docs.gitbutler.com/ai-agents…
Put out a new Butler's Pantry episode, showing how to use GitButler to run several agents in one working directory with parallel branches. If you use agents and solve parallelism with worktrees, check this out because it's so much nicer.

a viable worktree alternative for 90% of use cases: docs.gitbutler.com/ai-agents…
Letting models use worktrees was a terrible idea. They are all over the place, they are never cleaned up, and they are huge with lots of duplication, clogging up the whole disk in no time. Awful.

a new version of GB is out - 0.22.1 it's mainly bug fixes but it's many of them. if your coding agent is using a previous version of the GitButler CLI, talk to it about v0.22.1 - lots of goodies in here: github.com/gitbutlerapp/gitb…

Got a new M5 Mac with 128GB unified memory and thought I would test the current state of local models on it. Turns out they’re getting pretty good, even on fairly commodity hardware. Muse is particularly good. blog.gitbutler.com/local-llm…

We would be interested to see what your eval is for these. We're running gh stack against gitbutler and adding scenarios here: github.com/gitbutlerapp/stac… Your new skill does do better on our bench too (though not GitButler level yet 😉) but I'm curious what you're benching for.

It's interesting - the @github stacked PRs CLI extension is _very_ Graphite inspired. Like you go up and down the stack checking out PRs, then if you amend something, you need to manually rebase the upstack. I forget how awkward this is, because @gitbutler does all of this automatically.

The @gitbutler is cooking. Their TUI was absolutely game changing. It requires you to buy into their way of working, but I feel jj does as well. It's well worth it imo.

hey friends! I made a benchmark comparing Claude Code and Codex stacking using `gh stack` vs `but` `but` ⋈ ofc also uses the native @github stacks and "just works"™ ❤️ github.com/gitbutlerapp/stac…

Just sharing this cool thing here vcbench.dev/ the team over at GB is always relentlessly optimizing the agentic stacking - to the point where you can have multiple agents working on different parts of the stack 🤯

giving your coding agent the `but` CLI ⋈ means that it can: - work on things parallel without worktrees 🤯 - stack branches PRs for you and ament/commit in the right places - split/combine/move commits as they make sense to you we are continuously testing the heck out of it: vcbench.dev/

The nightly version of GitButler has full support for native GitHub stacks (as of a few days ago). ngl, agentic stacking with the `but` CLI has never been this good. gitbutler.com/nightly
