Another sequence from our work on TRON: Ares, and one of my favorites.
In Ares Finding Eve, Ares dives into Eve’s memories, searching through fragments of her past to uncover a critical piece of information that moves the story forward.
The sequence shares some DNA with the Computer Vision system we developed for the film, but the intention here was different. Rather than visualizing how Ares perceives and analyzes the physical world, we wanted to imagine what it might feel like for an artificial intelligence to move through human memory.
We took thousands of photographic memories and transformed them into a vast, navigable environment. Our square-packing algorithms became the underlying architecture, breaking the imagery into shifting grids and computational structures, while thousands of points, particles, and delicate line systems expanded those images outward into space.
From there, light became the connective tissue.
Volumetric fog gave the memories atmosphere and depth. Pulses of light traveled through the environment, illuminating fragments before allowing them to disappear again. Images overlapped, dissolved, multiplied, and floated at different depths, creating the feeling that Ares wasn’t simply looking at Eve’s memories. He was physically moving through them.
The challenge was finding a balance between information density and beauty. We wanted thousands of images and data points surrounding Ares, but we never wanted it to feel like a database or a conventional interface. It needed to feel emotional, spatial, and slightly overwhelming, a human lifetime reconstructed through the language of a machine.
Really proud of how this one came together.
Primitive energy, captured through glass and expanded into impossible scale. Fire without gravity. Combustion without boundary. A living element given a new geometry.
For HOLOSPHERE 2.0, we captured fire at its source. Real flames were filmed practically through glass, bending and refracting into liquid distortions. Through the lens, individual flames stretched into sweeping arcs, turbulent currents and storms of combustion.
Mapped onto the Holosphere, those fragments became something much larger. Fire wrapped around the thirty-foot sphere, folding over itself and disappearing around its curvature, transforming a small physical flame into something planetary.
Special thanks to @ericprydz @_punkette and the entire team over there, you are all wizards.

Somewhere between signal and thought, a pattern begins to recognize itself.
Connections form. Constellations gather. Fragments of information move through an expanding field, finding relationships, reinforcing pathways, building invisible architectures of association and memory. What begins as pure signal slowly develops gravity, pulling distant ideas toward one another until information drifts toward intuition.
Perhaps intelligence emerges somewhere within that accumulation, in the quiet transition between receiving the world and beginning to understand it.
A glimpse into the dreaming machinery of TRON: Ares.

Sharing our computer vision system design for TRON: Ares.
We approached these shots from the perspective of the machine. The frame becomes a field of observation. Every pixel is potential information waiting to be interpreted.
The process begins by squarepacking the live action plates, dividing the image into a computational lattice. Once the grid exists, the system begins to read. Targets emerge. Motion vectors form. Signals ripple through layers of analysis.
Inside these overlays lives the source code of the system itself. Streams of logic, fragments of instruction, the internal language of the machine. At times the imagery dissolves directly into that code, as if the world itself is being rewritten from within. Visual information collapses into structure, then reconstructs again as data.
Scanning pulses move across the frame. Timers react. Coordinates lock. Each layer is part of a larger ecosystem of perception, constantly processing, evaluating, and iterating.
The goal was maximum detail and living systems. Interfaces that breathe, think, and evolve in real time.

They said photography wasn’t art.
They said cinema wasn’t art.
They said video games weren’t art.
Now they say AI arts/digital art isn’t art.
I’ve spent over a decade with my studio team turning millions of data points into living, breathing artwork experiences ethically — at MoMA, at the Guggenheim, at the Venice Biennale. Not because a machine told me what to create, but because I had a vision that no traditional tool could realize.
Denying all AI technologies as an artistic medium doesn’t protect art. It limits it. The artists who embrace new tools don’t replace the old masters — they join them.
Art is not defined by the brush. It’s defined by the intention, the emotion, and the courage to see the world differently.

Someone smoked DMT out of a puma bone pipe in a cave at 12,600 feet in the Argentine Andes.
In 2130 BC.
That's the oldest confirmed evidence of psychedelic use on Earth — and the hardest thing I've ever typed.

Through full-spectrum photography and a machine-learning process called Breathing, hidden wavelengths were drawn into view. Light beyond sight. Spectra beneath the surface. The islands unfolded as a primordial system of pulse, pattern, and becoming.
