Halloween wasn't a thing when I was at college in Brighton. But midnight walks could certainly get spooky. I incorporated elements of those memories in a short story I wrote and published as a web story in 2004 - which thanks to the ease of self pub is more readable as an ebook.
The Last Book is a novel of lost and reforged history, the story of ordinary people in extraordinary times whose lives find new meaning amid the cracked covers of unreliable old books.
The Last Book (belying its title) is a standalone work, not part of a series.

Sad to see storms today have washed away more shards of the West Pier Brighton. The photo I took and used for my short story cover was 6th September 2016 and now includes more of the framework than you can see in real life. I used to go on that pier as a Brightonian in the 1960s.

I've known what the end of my novel had to be to hold faith with the story and the reader who had come with me through the 240,000 word narrative of the lives of my characters. But how best to wrap that package? This weekend I'm writing the last chapter of my wip - The Last Book.
