Vibed up Dreamcast port run like shit? Trying to push polys like Shenmue, but wind up looking like Final Fantasy 7 for PS1? Is your weak SH4 math game holding you back from realizing your full potential on the little white box of dreams? Well fret no more, fellow DC devs, cuz SH4ZAM v0.10.0 just released, and we're bringing the GAINZ!!! 1) New optimizations for many of the most critical XMTRX-based matrix transforms and more! 2) New accelerated routines for the scalar, vector, quaternion, matrix, and XMTRX APIs. 3) C and C++ minimum language version requirements drop to C11 and C++17 (for all you dinosaurs out there), with extra goodies being added for C23, C++20, and C++23, which are now optional. 4) Swap between SH4 accelerated and fully SW-based back-ends at compile-time now, for troubleshooting potential bugs or for just flexing the FPS diff with and without GAINZ. 5) Initial Cell Broadband Engine SPU back-end added for bringing the GAINZ to the Sony Playstation 3 (by Fancy2209) 6) Nintendo Gamecube and Wii support is now out-of-the-box with the software back-end via libogc(2), with plans for an accelerated back-end specifically for the Gekko PPC CPU in the future. 7) MinGW-w64 compiler support with CI verification. 8) New AI/LLM-friendly documentation, so all you vibers out there can direct your audacious little clankers to sh4zam.com, where they can HOPEFULLY learn how to use my shit properly now. ;) 9) Critical bugfixes since previous release. GET IT WHILE IT'S HOT: github.com/gyrovorbis/sh4zam…

Been awhile, but I can finally share an update on our game's second official vehicle, the Mobula GT-B. Hacao is working on it. ✌️
With the Ávila model done, we're moving onto the next official vehicle in the line up. Keep your eyes peeled. 👀

Hot take, but I wish we could go back to Steam having a Greenlight program. This Next Fest was an absolute flop; I found maybe a handful of games I wanted to try out, let alone wishlist (outside of the circle of other devs I know). I miss when indie actually meant something.

Funny, I don't have to write anything. I wonder why that is?
Replying to @mattworkman
Forcing developers to write a political statement to be used against them by the hate mob they’re helping organize is abhorrent.

We’ve launched our game in Steam Early Access during the Next Fest, amid a flood of AI-generated clones. Are we crazy? Probably... 😅 But we believe in people who seek original games made with love. Help us spread the word! ❤️ #indiegames #steamnextfest #indiedev

Man, this Steam Next Fest something. The amount of AI used and not disclosed is INSANE. If I hear another fucking Suno soundtrack, I swear...

One of my favourite Horizons, awesome to see it working on PC. Absolutely stellar job. 👏
We're not dead, just been busy! Here's what we've been cooking up, for those who prefer human made projects.

Same as Pixel for me Will I ever finish my game? Maybe, maybe not. But I'd rather do it on my own merit than just have AI create entire worlds for me just because I'm too lazy to do it myself Passion is what makes a game good, it's why older games still hold up
You know what? My own game is a sunk cost project, that likely won't see a full return on it's investment. But I would rather develop a game at a loss, that has soul and passion behind it, created by actual individuals with artistic talent. Than some feed my ideas into some soulless slop factory that spits out a sub-par product.

Well, that was interesting. I'm genuinely surprised at how hostile some people got over me just stating a personal opinion, but hey, it is what it is. I'm gonna keep just working on my game, AI free.

Some of these replies are crazy, glazing AI so hard. We are already 2+ years into "6 months until AI takes your job" Yes, it will be getting better. But it will get better like it has been the past few years, and not at fully replacing jobs. It has progressed so much, and yet not at all for the important parts. "Oh but you need to prompt it better, you need to use the latest models", it is always your fault and never the AI's apparently. It is good at writing "code", but not structuring a project to be maintainable. It is a tool that can be useful, but people mistake it for a developer. I enjoy the process of development and problem solving myself. I like the process of creating something and putting effort into it. Knowing I did the best I could and my next project will be better. Not because an AI model got an update.

The games we've long wanted, which didn't exist because they'd cost several times more to make than they'd earn back, will soon become possible. As will the games developers wanted to build, but couldn't with the resources available. It'll be a new golden age of gaming.

VRChat developers are really out here doing the craziest shit. 😂
So if you thought Doom on Linux in a fragment shader in VRChat was crazy... Turns out if you optimize it enough to run Quake 3 Arena! I also added VR controls. And even a barely working LAN connection between users via Udon. World: vrchat.com/home/launch?world…

I think I hit the jackpot today. Picked up four original PlayStation games from an upcycling centre for only £8 ($10.82) all together. 👀 Pretty sure I've used up my luck for the next couple of weeks. 😂 #PlayStation
