It’s not just Ronaldo fans. Even major sports media pages like ESPN are desperately begging for views and engagement by pushing the narrative that Messi should congratulate Ronaldo on his retirement.
They keep bringing up Ronaldo’s fake comments on Messi’s posts following his father’s passing and his international retirement, completely ignoring Ronaldo’s previous actions.
In 2021, Ronaldo commented “Factos” on a post attacking Messi’s seventh Ballon d’Or.
In 2023, Ronaldo liked and responded with four laughing emojis to a video mocking Messi’s eighth Ballon d’Or and questioning his achievements.
Ronaldo also liked a video claiming that FIFA is one of the most corrupt institutions on Earth for favouring Messi and Argentina.
Those comments Ronaldo left on Messi’s posts were FAKE.
You cannot spend years liking and interacting with posts mocking Messi, attacking his achievements and questioning his legacy, then suddenly pretend to respect him publicly.
And now Ronaldo fans and major sports media pages expect Messi to return the favour? Give me a break.
Messi doesn’t owe Ronaldo a single comment, a congratulatory message or a public tribute. And he certainly doesn’t owe these engagement-hungry media pages anything. Even his own Portuguese teammates didn’t do it.
