US industrial capacity has been eroding for decades, and with it the fortunes of our middle class and to an extent, our national security. Data center development and our leadership in AI can reverse that trend, finally. Current hysteria to block all projects everywhere is a gift to China.

The governor-elect of Texas, Gina Hinojosa, has explicitly said that all currently permitted datacenters in Texas will be allowed to finish construction. This essentially covers all of the 2027 and likely well into 2028.
She is going to pass laws that ensure that all *newly* permitted datacenters going forward for delivery in 2028/2029 will pay taxes, commit to no increase in power prices for consumers, don’t impact water availability for people, be constructed with union labor and give “Texans a seat at the table.”
Sounds reasonable. She doesn’t want to lose a lot of good blue collar jobs and property taxes for small towns in rural Texas.
Datacenter commentary starts at 6:30 in this interview.
Also attaching her official campaign position from her website in the next post.
Sidenote: After watching a bunch of her speeches and interviews, I do think she is a political talent and probably has a future in national politics.

BREAKING: Europe is under a massive widespread cyber attack right now Sweden, Belgium, Luxembourg, Estonia, Ireland the Netherlands and just now Finland are all experiencing disruptions to supermarket refrigeration systems causing food to go off.
The attack is spreading...
Another cyber attack against refrigerators in Europe. Prime suspect- Russia
BREAKING:
Refrigeration and freezer systems targeted overnight in a cyberattack against Swedish and Belgian grocery stores.
Refrigeration temperatures reached 50°C and food worth millions of euros has been spoiled.
ICA, one of Sweden’s largest grocery store chains, has been hard hit.
The incident bears striking similarities to October's cyberattacks against hundreds of French supermarkets, where refrigeration systems were remotely manipulated.
The French attacks reportedly involved Danfoss refrigeration controllers. It remains unknown whether the Swedish stores use the same equipment.
There is currently no confirmed connection between the incidents, and the attackers remain unidentified.
Similar hacking attacks against refrigeration and freezer systems have recently hit French grocery stores and U.S. military bases.
Experts warn that such attacks are a threat against the food security of many states.
The Russian army is failing in Ukraine. It is shrinking and long range Ukrainian attacks on Russian refineries has degraded RU supply lines to the front.
MORE: Russian forces suffered their highest monthly losses of the war thus far in October 2026, paying a growing price for their territorial losses. Russian casualty rates and territorial losses match the battlefield reality that Russian forces have lost the initiative and their offensive capabilities in much of the theater. Russian forces retain the initiative in the immediate area of Dobropillya, Donetsk Oblast, where they have concentrated the bulk of their offensive operations. But Ukrainian forces have seized the initiative in the Kupyansk, Lyman, and Oleksandrivka directions and are contesting it in western Zaporizhia Oblast.

Stanford University student Elsa Johnson became a target of the Chinese Communist Party in 2024.
Elsa attended a private school as a child with a heavy focus on foreign languages and became fluent in Mandarin Chinese while still in elementary school. Years later after she was accepted to Stanford, she studied international relations and researched Chinese industry and military tactics while working at the Hoover Institution on campus.
She soon came to the attention of members of the Chinese Communist Party, which has a heavy presence at Stanford and throughout Southern California. There are currently more than 1,000 Chinese students attending Stanford each year, and the university has received more than $64,000,000 in private donations from Chinese individuals and organizations since 2010.
In June 2024, a man claiming to be a fellow Stanford student named Charles Chen contacted her online. She was not initially suspicious as they had many mutual associates, and his photos and posts appeared to be centered on campus. But his questions and requests quickly put her on edge as he invited her on a paid trip to China. And he seemingly knew details about her that she had never shared with him.
When she tried to disengage with him, she began receiving threatening phone calls by Chinese speakers. Elsa contacted Stanford administrators and the FBI, who told her Charles was likely affiliated with the Ministry of State Security, had been posing as a Stanford student for years, and had targeted at least ten other female students since 2020 in a similar manner. They also told her she was under physical surveillance on campus by the Chinese Communist Party.
Elsa wrote articles in the Stanford Review and The Free Press about Chinese influence on campus, and in March 2026 testified about espionage threats on college campuses before the House Committee on Education and Workforce.
For episode 270 of the Spycraft 101 podcast I spoke with Elsa about being targeted by a foreign government right in the middle of a US college campus. The episode is available now.

🇰🇵 North Korean hackers just pulled off the largest cryptocurrency theft in history, stealing roughly $6.36 billion from Binance in just 20 minutes.
Blockchain intelligence firm TRM Labs has linked the attack with high confidence to TraderTraitor, a North Korean state-sponsored hacking group associated with the notorious Lazarus Group.
The attackers reportedly drained Binance wallets across 10 blockchains, stealing approximately $3.79 billion from Ethereum, $1.47 billion in Bitcoin, $628 million from Tron and $296 million from the XRP Ledger.
The scale of the operation is staggering, with the amount stolen roughly four times greater than the $1.5 billion Bybit hack in February 2025, which was also attributed to North Korean hackers.
Binance's preliminary investigation suggests the attackers compromised an engineer's laptop, gaining access to systems used to authorize withdrawals rather than directly stealing wallet private keys.
On Ethereum, investigators found that attackers used 50 signed authorizations to gain control of a Binance wallet, allowing them to drain funds and intercept subsequent deposits.
More remarkably, that access reportedly remained active for nearly four hours, including more than 90 minutes after Binance suspended withdrawals.
The exchange has pledged to cover losses using its emergency SAFU fund and company reserves.
Meanwhile, cryptocurrency companies have reportedly helped freeze approximately $3 billion of the stolen assets, although billions remain outside their control.
