AMC CEO Adam Aron says that New York City’s popular AMC Kips Bay 15 movie theater, which will shutter on Jan. 3, "wants to stay," but NYU Langone "wants us gone":
“Unfortunately, the decision to retain or end AMC’s tenure in Kips Bay is not ours to make. The nearby NYU Langone Health facility wants to expand, seems to be in the process of buying the building in which your (our) theatre now operates, and it wants us gone. In anticipation of such a transfer to NYU Langone, the current building’s owner has terminated our lease,” Aron writes. “We have engaged with NYU Langone, suggesting any number of alternatives — including that it enlarge the current low-rise building to satisfy its desires for a growth of its medical facility but also leaving a theatre in place for you. Or alternatively, we offered that our theatre could get smaller, so that at the very least we could leave something remaining in place to continue to serve you. Sadly, any and all variations that we have proposed have fallen on closed minds.”

The name Shrek derives from the Yiddish word “shrek” (שרעק), meaning “fear” or “fright.” The character was created by Jewish American cartoonist William Steig for his 1990 children’s book, later adapted into the blockbuster DreamWorks film.

I was very surprised to learn from the heads of our EMS unions during today's hearings that the administration has not even had a single contract negotiation meeting with them all year - only "positive conversations." And as EMS President Greco said, "positivity and $3 will get me on the subway."
The administration and OLR need to sit down with EMS immediately and get this straightened out. Every day this drags on, more New Yorkers die needlessly.
No, you misunderstand: if they did not have the anime they would go hungry.

El comerciante explicó que no pudo hacer nada para detenerlos porque eran demasiados, lamentando que el trabajo de toda su vida quedó destruido en cuestión de minutos tras ver cómo vaciaban los estantes de mercancía y mangas.

After I posted that @FDNY EMS was short ambulances, day after day, month after month, FDNY changed the numbers on the fleet report so it looked like more ambulances were in service.
I guess the @FDNYfc got tired of the truth being posted.

Hey @MarkLevineNYC, buried on page 21 of your own report is this: FDNY lowered its daily ambulance target from 488 to 332 in spring 2026, under Mayor Mamdani. That’s a 32% reduction. Your explanation: “The reason for the decrease is unclear.”
You’re the comptroller. Who approved it? Why? Was the target lowered to reflect what New Yorkers need—or what City Hall could deliver?
Your own figures also show life-threatening ambulance incidents fell 3.7% from FY2024 to FY2026 while average response times climbed from 10:52 to 13:09—a 21% increase.
“Growing demand” doesn’t explain that recent deterioration.
New Yorkers deserve to know why the city lowered the ambulance target while they waited longer for help. “Unclear” should be the starting point of your investigation, not where the explanation ends.

"all 12 patients who completed treatment had their tumors disappear. No surgery, radiation, or chemo."
Rectal cancer patients at Memorial Sloan Kettering have been skipping surgery since 2022. The FDA caught up today. How many patients could have avoided surgery if that happened four years sooner?
Who qualifies comes down to one test. Mismatch repair. Every time a cell copies its DNA, it makes typos, and normally it fixes them. dMMR tumors can’t. The typos pile up until the cancer looks foreign enough for the immune system to spot. Take the PD-1 brakes off and the immune system goes after the tumor.
In that MSK trial, all 12 patients who completed treatment had their tumors disappear. No surgery, radiation, or chemo.
If you have colorectal cancer, know your mismatch repair status before anyone schedules surgery. A dMMR result can also be a sign of Lynch syndrome, which runs in families. Get your relatives checked.

The idea that Poppi was eroding traditional CSD is for the developmentally delayed
Poppi got bought to take it off the competitive market, and then relegate it back behind the far more important IP of their core portfolio
The didn’t want a new marquee brand competitive with their own offering, nor do they want to pay a big earnout, they wanted to use their capital to slow the tides of change
It’s all going to plan
Categorically false.
Incompetence is not a conspiracy.
Long list of brands bought to protect the core of the buyer's portfolio, then starved or shelved:
- Honest Tea, Odwalla, Zico: all bought by Coke, all discontinued. Zico's founder bought it back.
- Bai: Dr Pepper paid $1.7bn, wrote most of it down.
- Bodyarmor: Coke paid $5.6bn, took a $760m impairment three years later.
- Rockstar: Pepsi paid $3.85bn, has lost share every year since.
- Freshly: Nestlé paid $1.5bn, shut it within three years.
- Dollar Shave Club: Unilever paid $1bn, sold it for a fraction seven years later.
- Bonobos: Walmart paid $310m, sold for $75m.
- Ballast Point: Constellation paid $1bn, sold for pocket change four years on.
- Snapple: Quaker paid $1.7bn in 1994, sold for $300m in 1997. The original.

Thoughts on the Norm Documentary:
-Judd Apatow did an excellent job and a great introduction to both the humor and philosophy of Norm. It’s not a typical celebrity doc—no new interviews but brilliantly edits existing material, including Norm reading from his “memoir.”
-For diehard Norm fans there aren’t a ton of new revelations but I still learned a lot even though I think I was already familiar with the comedy bits
-Norm was the first to use the term Fake News
-Norm had a brother who was a renowned Canadian journalist.
-I still don’t have clarity on Adam Eget. I want to understand him and his relationship to Norm better.
-Andy Richter on Norm: That guy doesn’t care in a way that frightens me.
-There’s new footage from his memorial.
-Happy the doc highlights his relationship with @therealroseanne—one of the first people who gave him his first big break.
-Norm has an interview—not in the doc— where he shows his serious interest in the Lurianic doctrine of tzimtzum—God’s creation through retraction. This is the central idea behind the comedy and character of Norm. Disclosure through concealment. This point is discussed.
-Norm was a brilliant liar. He lied to preserve a sincere truth that could never be disclosed even if you tried.
-Norm’s relationship with his mom is so beautiful. Never knew about that.
-Powerful section of Norm’s relationship to death.
-I want to learn more about his relationship with Larry King. Cutest banter.
-I was very very pleased to see that the documentary ends with Norm’s relationship to religion and theology. He had long radio interviews discussing God, theology, limitations of scientific inquiry, faith. I think it’s the closest you ever to hearing Norm’s sincere views on life. And how Norm loved life.
