Anyone can become a better writer, you just need to have the courage to publish bad writing over and over again until it eventually gets better. It takes years, and people who are worried about impressing others, sounding smart, not making mistakes, end up never improving at all.

NEW: Russian forces lost ground on the battlefield in October 2026 for the second month in a row. Russian forces continue to sustain significant personnel losses while losing ground, and Russia’s current force generation system continues to recruit fewer soldiers than needed to replace these losses. These factors likely explain Putin’s turn to a new theory of victory that relies on using long-range ballistic missiles and jet-powered drone strikes to hammer Ukraine into surrender over the winter.

A China-linked online influence operation is using older and repurposed social media accounts to pose as American voters and spread divisive political content ahead of the Nov. 3 midterm elections, according to a report by intelligence firm Graphika.
The activity is tied to Spamouflage, a long-running covert network known for pushing pro-Beijing narratives and targeting critics of the Chinese Communist Party.
Researchers identified accounts that previously attacked Chinese dissidents and the Falun Gong spiritual movement that have now shifted to amplifying contentious U.S. debates, including immigration, mass shootings, and election integrity.
Among the prominent examples is Coolture, an account with roughly 201,600 followers that originally shared Philippine food and cultural lifestyle posts before falling dormant in August 2022.
The handle resumed activity in late 2024 with pro-Beijing messaging before pivoting heavily toward U.S. politics in 2025, circulating both pro- and anti-Trump posts, criticizing foreign aid to Ukraine, and sharing AI-generated videos depicting American democracy as an oligarchy.
Investigators could not determine whether the account was hijacked, sold, or transferred, though its pre-existing follower base gave the operation an unusually large built-in audience.
Graphika tracked multiple affiliated accounts that consistently amplified Coolture while exhibiting previous Spamouflage activity, including synchronized posts targeting Falun Gong, the Shen Yun performing arts group, and Japan.
Another account, @ghosolutions, previously targeted Chinese businessman and regime critic Guo Wengui before pivoting to U.S. domestic politics and fabricating quotes regarding American politicians during discussions on mass shootings.
Analysts also detected unusual punctuation patterns across the network's posts, consistent with English text typed using Chinese-language keyboards.
Despite its cross-platform presence and past crackdowns by major tech firms—such as Meta and Google dismantling hundreds of thousands of related assets linked to Chinese law enforcement—the network continues to struggle with real-world reach.
Most interactions across the latest campaign were confined to closed loops of coordinated accounts within the network, with posts typically generating only minimal authentic public engagement.

Idk how the salary would work, but the Vikings did like Daniel Jones. Should trade for him if they feel it would improve their contender odds. Colts will probably give him away for free.
I know that the #Broncos won that game, but Bo Nix still sucks. It’s going to be an issue when his rookie contract is up and they have to shell out top tier QB money for him. Won’t have this complete of a roster around him. He’ll be exposed.
Somehow both Kyler Murray and Tua Tagavoila stock has dropped significantly this season. Impressive considering, expectations were already low for both of em.

We’ve trained Claude to flag potential misuse in conversations, a technique we call self-assessment. Right after it responds, Claude gives a preliminary safety assessment of the conversation.
Since we began using self-assessment in June, it has surfaced misuse that our other safeguards weren’t designed to catch.
Because Claude has already read the conversation, self-assessment is very efficient. And unlike classifiers, which target a discrete set of harms, it draws on Claude’s own judgment, so it gets more accurate as our models improve.

Claude gonna start snitching on Tuesday.
Anthropic just emailed customers. Starting Nov 3, text carries an invisible watermark.
You can't see it. It survives copy and paste, and it can survive some editing.
Only regulators, journalists, fact-checkers and researchers can check for it right now.
It doesn't say who you are. It says Claude touched the words. Even a quick proofread counts.
If your brand voice runs on Claude, write like someone might check. Because now someone can.

Stanford University student Elsa Johnson became a target of the Chinese Communist Party in 2024.
Elsa attended a private school as a child with a heavy focus on foreign languages and became fluent in Mandarin Chinese while still in elementary school. Years later after she was accepted to Stanford, she studied international relations and researched Chinese industry and military tactics while working at the Hoover Institution on campus.
She soon came to the attention of members of the Chinese Communist Party, which has a heavy presence at Stanford and throughout Southern California. There are currently more than 1,000 Chinese students attending Stanford each year, and the university has received more than $64,000,000 in private donations from Chinese individuals and organizations since 2010.
In June 2024, a man claiming to be a fellow Stanford student named Charles Chen contacted her online. She was not initially suspicious as they had many mutual associates, and his photos and posts appeared to be centered on campus. But his questions and requests quickly put her on edge as he invited her on a paid trip to China. And he seemingly knew details about her that she had never shared with him.
When she tried to disengage with him, she began receiving threatening phone calls by Chinese speakers. Elsa contacted Stanford administrators and the FBI, who told her Charles was likely affiliated with the Ministry of State Security, had been posing as a Stanford student for years, and had targeted at least ten other female students since 2020 in a similar manner. They also told her she was under physical surveillance on campus by the Chinese Communist Party.
Elsa wrote articles in the Stanford Review and The Free Press about Chinese influence on campus, and in March 2026 testified about espionage threats on college campuses before the House Committee on Education and Workforce.
For episode 270 of the Spycraft 101 podcast I spoke with Elsa about being targeted by a foreign government right in the middle of a US college campus. The episode is available now.

Incredible footage of a suspected North Korean hacker posing as Japanese getting exposed after refusing to insult Kim Jong Un.
Apparently, still one of the most effective ways to catch them.
